The Verizon Fios Extender E3200 is designed to improve Wi-Fi coverage in weak spots—not to increase the speed of your internet plan. Its Wi-Fi 6 radios and MoCA 2.5 connection are specifications, not a promise of a particular wireless speed. Whether it is a sensible upgrade depends first on your router: Verizon lists the E3200 as compatible with the G3100 and CR1000A/B, with a wired-backhaul requirement when used with CR1000A/B.
What the E3200 can—and cannot—do for speed
The E3200 adds a Wi-Fi access point between a compatible Verizon router and areas where the router’s signal is weak. A better connection in those areas may make everyday Wi-Fi more usable, but the extender does not raise the speed tier supplied by your internet plan. Verizon’s Fios extender support page describes the product and its supported router pairings.

Verizon specifies Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), tri-band 4×4 radios—one 2.4 GHz band and two 5 GHz bands—two 1 Gigabit LAN ports, and MoCA 2.5. Its Fios Extender product listing and E3200 user guide provide those specifications. The guide lists Ethernet at up to 1000 Mbps and MoCA LAN at 2500 Mbps. These are interface capabilities, not measured client speeds or internet throughput.
Actual speed at a phone, computer, or TV depends on the whole connection: the internet service, router, link between router and extender, Wi-Fi signal and interference, client device, and location. Verizon’s published specifications do not establish a controlled real-world speed result or a percentage improvement for the E3200. Treat claims of a specific speed gain as unverified unless they come with independent tests under comparable conditions.

Check router compatibility before buying
Verizon lists the E3200 as compatible with the Fios Router G3100 and Verizon Router CR1000A/B. Compatibility is model-specific; confirm the exact router model rather than relying on the Fios or Verizon name alone. Verizon also cautions that features such as SON may not work as designed with other routers.
| Router | E3200 compatibility and connection | Verizon-stated client-speed limit |
|---|---|---|
| Fios Router G3100 | Listed as compatible by Verizon; see its compatibility guidance. | Not stated in the cited compatibility guidance. |
| Verizon Router CR1000A/B | Listed as compatible; E3200 must connect to the router by coax or Ethernet. | Up to 1 Gbps for connected clients, as stated by Verizon. This is a stated limit, not a measured speed guarantee. |
Verizon separately documents E3200 use with certain 5G Home Internet gateways—ARC-XCI55AX, ASK-NCQ1338, and ASK-NCQ1338FA—and excludes WNC-CR200A on that FAQ. That guidance applies to the named wireless-home-internet equipment; it should not be read as a general compatibility list for every Verizon gateway or Fios setup. See Verizon’s Fios extender support page for the Fios router context and its E3200 product information.

How to set up and place the E3200
Verizon documents wireless WPS and wired Ethernet pairing for the E3200. If you use a CR1000A/B, the backhaul must be coax or Ethernet; wireless pairing is not the required connection for that router combination. Follow Verizon’s E3200 setup and pairing instructions for the connection method and device-specific steps.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →For coverage, placement matters as much as the extender’s listed radio specifications. Verizon recommends using the Wi-Fi Analyzer in My Verizon to find a weak-signal area, then placing the extender upright between the router and the area you want to improve. An extender placed too far into a dead zone may itself receive a poor connection from the router. Verizon notes that finding the right location can require experimentation.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the E3200 worth its listed price?
Verizon’s product listing displayed $199.99 per unit when checked in 2026. That is a dated vendor listing, not a stable market price; verify the current price and availability before purchasing. At that cost, first confirm your router is supported and decide whether a wired coax or Ethernet route to the extender is practical, especially with a CR1000A/B.

If you compare the E3200 with another extender or mesh node, check exact router compatibility, whether backhaul can be wired, port and coax/MoCA capabilities, and current price. For speed, the meaningful comparison is an independent test at the same locations, with the same router, client device, internet plan, and test conditions. Verizon’s specification pages do not supply that head-to-head evidence. Also distinguish the E3200 from Verizon’s CE1000A, a separate Wi-Fi 6E extender model; specifications or pairing behavior for one model should not be attributed to the other.
