Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteIn a representative Ryzen 5000 desktop comparison, the Ryzen 7 5700G has the stronger graphics specification: eight graphics cores at 2000 MHz, compared with seven cores at 1900 MHz in the Ryzen 5 5600G. That makes the 5700G the stronger configuration on paper, but the specifications alone do not establish a fixed gaming-performance lead.
What “Vega 7” and “Vega 8” mean
“Vega 7” and “Vega 8” are common shorthand for integrated graphics configurations with seven or eight graphics cores or compute units. They are not complete product names, and the label alone does not identify a single, identical GPU across processor generations. AMD describes Vega as a graphics-architecture codename, not a product name, in its 2018 desktop APU announcement.

For example, AMD lists the 2018 Ryzen 3 2200G with Radeon Vega 8 Graphics, eight compute units, and a maximum GPU clock of 1100 MHz. A later processor can use the same shorthand while having different specifications. Compare the exact processor model and generation rather than treating the Vega number as a full GPU identity.
Ryzen 5 5600G vs Ryzen 7 5700G specifications
These Ryzen 5000 desktop processors are useful examples of Vega 7- and Vega 8-class configurations. AMD’s product pages use the general label “Radeon Graphics” and specify the graphics core count and frequency.

Figures are from AMD’s Ryzen 5 5600G specifications and Ryzen 7 5700G specifications. “Vega 7 class” and “Vega 8 class” are explanatory shorthand; AMD identifies the graphics on those pages as Radeon Graphics.
Does Vega 8 perform better in games?
The 5700G’s extra graphics core and higher listed frequency make it the stronger on-paper graphics configuration in this comparison. They do not, by themselves, say how large any frame-rate difference will be or whether a particular game will run well. No matched head-to-head gaming result for these exact processors is established here, so a specific FPS lead should not be inferred from the core count or clock figures.

Integrated graphics performance depends on the complete system and the workload. A meaningful benchmark comparison should identify the exact processor, memory configuration, power limits, drivers, game, resolution, and graphics settings. AMD’s 2018 release also cautions that PC configurations and graphics drivers can affect results.

Compare the whole processor, not just the Vega number
The 5700G also has more CPU cores and threads than the 5600G: eight and 16, respectively, versus six and 12. If you are choosing between these processors, weigh the CPU workload as well as integrated graphics specifications. The Vega label alone does not rank the complete processor or determine its value.

- Can deliver fast 100 plus FPS performance in the world's most popular games, discrete graphics card required
- 6 Cores and 12 processing threads, bundled with the AMD Wraith Stealth cooler
- 4.2 GHz Max Boost, unlocked for overclocking, 19 MB cache, DDR4-3200 support
- For the advanced Socket AM4 platform
Confirm motherboard and memory compatibility
Both examples use an AM4 socket and two-channel DDR4 memory, with AMD listing support up to 3200 MT/s. Check the motherboard’s CPU support list and required firmware before a build or upgrade, and confirm the actual memory configuration. Specifications shared by the processors do not guarantee that every AM4 motherboard supports both without a BIOS update.
Account for cooling, power, and current system cost
Both models have a listed default TDP of 65 W, but a finished system also depends on its cooling and power settings. Their launch dates were in 2021; those specifications are not current price or value guidance. Compare current processor and platform costs alongside relevant benchmarks for the games or applications you use.

- 5 nm process technology for reliable performance with maximum productivity
- Octa-core (8 Core) processor core allows multitasking with great reliability and fast processing speed
- 8 MB L2 plus 96 MB L3 cache memory provides excellent hit rate in short access time enabling improved system performance
Bottom line for this comparison
For the Ryzen 5 5600G versus Ryzen 7 5700G, Vega 8 describes a configuration with one more graphics core and a 100 MHz higher listed graphics frequency than the Vega 7-class configuration. That is a specification advantage, not proof of a universal or quantified gaming win. Tie any Vega label to its exact processor, and use matched system benchmarks to judge real-world performance.
