What Error Code 7 means
Riot’s VALORANT error-code page describes Code 7 as “Couldn’t connect to session service.” It lists two possible explanations: an account suspension or a platform issue. The code is not, by itself, proof that your account has been suspended.

Riot also warns on that page that a recent issue may cause VALORANT errors to display incorrectly. The page labels its error-code information out of date and recommends submitting a ticket while Riot works on the display problem. As a result, treat the code as a starting point for checking your account and service notices, not as a definitive diagnosis.

- Confirm the displayed code. Make sure the message says Error Code 7. Riot’s warning about inaccurate error displays means a different code may require a different response.
- Check the email linked to your Riot account. Look in the inbox and spam folder for a Riot message about a suspension or other account issue. Riot specifically directs players to check their email for more information.
- Look for a platform notice. Check the VALORANT Discord or the banner on the VALORANT Support site. Riot lists platform issues as another possible cause and points players to those announcement channels.
- Submit a ticket if there is no explanation. Use Riot’s ticket submission page. Include the exact error text, when it occurred, your account region, and a screenshot if available. These details help support understand what you saw.
- Check notices again before retrying. Service status can change, and an outage’s regional scope or restoration time should not be assumed from the error code.
Why a generic restart may not be enough
The on-screen message may say, “There was an error connecting to the platform. Please restart your game client.” Restarting may be a reasonable basic step, but it cannot establish whether the cause is an account suspension, a platform incident, or an incorrectly displayed error. Use the account-email and official-notice checks above to distinguish those possibilities. If the issue persists without an explanation, contact Riot Support rather than relying on fixes aimed at unrelated network or hardware problems.

What not to infer from Code 7
- It does not confirm a ban or suspension; check the Riot account email for account-specific information.
- It does not confirm a current outage or indicate when service will return; use Riot’s current announcements for that information.
- It does not justify buying equipment, using a VPN, creating another account, or installing a paid repair utility. Riot’s stated next steps are to check account email and platform notices, then contact support.
