The guide names three roles—admin, readwrite, and readonly—but does not define a full permission matrix, so role names alone are not enough to determine what an account can do. The procedures below reflect the vendor’s published examples, not independently tested behavior.
Choose a human account or a service key
For a person, the documented controls center on a user account, its role, and its password. For a long-running service, the guide recommends a programmatic access key rather than relying on a human password. Keys have their own expiry, rotation, and revocation lifecycle.

| Credential | Documented use and lifecycle |
|---|---|
| Human user account | Create an account, assign or change a role, disable or enable it, reset or change its password, or delete it. The guide does not state an expiry lifecycle for human passwords. Lioran S3 user-management guide. |
| Programmatic access key | Create a named key for a user, optionally with an expiry timestamp, then list, rotate, or revoke/delete it. The secret is returned at creation; the guide says to store it immediately and not expect to retrieve the original secret later. Lioran S3 user-management guide. |
What the documented roles mean—and what they do not
The guide lists admin, readwrite, and readonly, and recommends choosing the least-privileged role that meets the workload. It does not map these roles to exact operations, bucket or object scope, or an authorization sequence. Do not infer a detailed permission model from the names or assume AWS IAM behavior.

- Entry-level NAS Personal Storage:UGREEN NAS DH2300 is your first and best NAS made easy. It is designed for beginners who want a simple, private way to store videos, photos and personal files, which is intuitive for users moving from cloud storage or external drives and move away from scattered date across devices. This entry-level NAS 2-bay perfect for personal entertainment, photo storage, and easy data backup (doesn't support Docker or virtual machines).
- Set Your Devices Free, Expand Your Digital World: This unified storage hub supports massive capacity up to 64TB.*Storage drives not included. Stop Deleting, Start Storing. You can store 22 million 3MB images, or 2 million 30MB songs, or 43K 1.5GB movies or 67 million 1MB documents! UGREEN NAS is a better way to free up storage across all your devices such as phones, computers, tablets and also does automatic backups across devices regardless of the operating system—Window, iOS, Android or macOS.
- The Smarter Long-term Way to Store: Unlike cloud storage with recurring monthly fees, a UGREEN NAS enclosure requires only a one-time purchase for long-term use. For example, you only need to pay $459.98 for a NAS, while for cloud storage, you need to pay $719.88 per year, $2,159.64 for 3 years, $3,599.40 for 5 years. You will save $6,738.82 over 10 years with UGREEN NAS! *NAS cost based on DH2300 + 12TB HDD; cloud cost based on 12TB plan (e.g. $59.99/month).
- Blazing Speed, Minimal Power: Equipped with a high-performance processor, 1GbE port, and 4GB RAM on Board, this NAS handles multiple tasks with ease. File transfers reach up to 125MB/s—a 1GB file takes only 8 seconds. Don't let slow clouds hold you back; they often need over 100 seconds for the same task. The difference is clear.
- Let AI Better Organize Your Memories: UGREEN NAS uses AI to tag faces, locations, texts, and objects—so you can effortlessly find any photo by searching for who or what's in it in seconds. It also automatically finds and deletes similar or duplicate photo, backs up live photos and allows you to share them with your friends or family with just one tap. Everything stays effortlessly organized, powered by intelligent tagging and recognition.
- Create a user and assign a role.
- List users and retrieve a user’s details.
- Change a user’s role.
- Disable an account and enable it again.
- Reset another user’s password, optionally requiring a password change, or change your own password.
- Delete a user.
The guide shows these as documented workflows; it does not establish that every version or deployment exposes identical interfaces. Treat the procedure as a vendor description of V1 Pre-Alpha, not as independently verified compatibility guidance.
Create and operate programmatic keys
The article’s example creates a named key owned by a user and includes an expiry timestamp. It then shows the key ID and secret being returned and demonstrates configuring a client with the access key, secret key, host, and TLS enabled. The example’s 90-day expiry is illustrative code, not a universal rotation interval or a general security recommendation.

- Create a key for the service identity and set an expiry if the workload is temporary. Use the vendor’s documented driver or CLI form.
- Capture the secret when it is displayed and place it in an appropriate secure store. The vendor says, “The secret is returned when the key is created.” Its guide says not to expect the original secret to be retrievable later.
- Configure the service with the key ID, secret, host, and TLS setting as shown in the client example.
- Rotate the key when needed. The guide says rotation invalidates the old secret, so update the service configuration as part of the change.
- Revoke or delete keys that are no longer needed, including when a service is decommissioned.
Reduce credential risk in day-to-day use
- Use separate keys for separate services so one service’s credential does not become a shared dependency.
- Use different identities across staging and production; do not reuse secrets across environments.
- Expire temporary keys and revoke keys when their service is decommissioned.
- Never commit secrets to Git. Store a newly issued secret securely as soon as it is returned.
- For human accounts, assign the least-privileged role that will support the work, while recognizing that the source does not specify each role’s exact permissions.
These are operational practices described or supported by the vendor article; the available material does not establish integration with any particular external secrets manager.

A separate vendor-authored overview describes Lioran S3 as using HTTP Basic authentication, Argon2id password hashing, mandatory rotation of the bootstrap password, programmatic access keys, and credential masking. These are the vendor’s descriptions, not independently audited or tested security properties. The overview warns: “Do not use this release for mission-critical workloads without rigorous validation.”
