Neither URLbox nor ScreenshotOne is a proven universal winner for Indian developers. Choose by testing your own target pages and comparing the output and controls you need, how successful and cached renders count, plan limits, and whether the service can reproduce the page’s intended Indian-market view. Vendor documentation describes capabilities and prices, but it does not establish a head-to-head rendering benchmark or India-hosted rendering for either service.
What these APIs do—and what they do not establish
URLbox and ScreenshotOne are hosted services that render web content through an API; they are not physical screenshot devices. Both document ways to submit pages and request rendered output, but their input formats, output types, controls, plans, and billing rules differ.
For Indian-market captures, distinguish a page that looks localized from a renderer physically located in India. ScreenshotOne’s guide explains that a site may respond to browser geolocation, language, timezone, or market. Urlbox advertises geographic request-origin controls. The available vendor information does not establish India-hosted rendering, INR billing, or a specific Indian tax treatment for either service. See ScreenshotOne’s localization guide and Urlbox’s documentation.
How URLbox and ScreenshotOne compare
| Decision factor | URLbox | ScreenshotOne |
|---|---|---|
| Inputs and outputs | Vendor documentation describes URL and HTML input and screenshot, PDF, video, text, HTML, and metadata output. | Its official guide describes URL, HTML, or Markdown input and screenshot, PDF, video, rendered HTML, Markdown, and metadata output. |
| Capture and integration controls | Documents render links that return a render directly, plus synchronous or asynchronous JSON API requests. It lists SDKs and responsive, full-page, and element capture controls. | Documents full-page capture, lazy-loaded content, custom screen sizes, dark mode, custom CSS and JavaScript, and blocking ads and cookie banners. Plan-specific controls vary. |
| Free allowance or trial | Its pricing page describes a seven-day trial without a credit card. | Its pricing page lists 100 free screenshots per month. |
| Published paid plans | As listed October 3, 2026: Lo-Fi $19/month for up to 2,000 renders; Hi-Fi $49/month for up to 5,000; Ultra $99/month for up to 15,000; Business $498/month; Enterprise from $3,000/month. | As listed October 3, 2026: Basic $17/month for 2,000 screenshots; Growth $79/month for 10,000; Scale $259/month for 50,000. |
| Counting, failures, and cache | Urlbox says failed renders are not charged. Its pricing page describes Render Links caching for 30 days by default and says cached requests do not count against quota under the conditions described. | ScreenshotOne says only successful renders not served from cache count toward quota; it excludes HTTP, browser, or network errors. |
| Notable plan differences | Plan features and limits vary; inspect the current plan page against the exact controls and volume you need. | Growth and Scale list IP location selection; Growth also lists scrolling screenshots and video, while Scale lists GPU rendering. |
| Tax note | Urlbox says listed prices exclude VAT. | ScreenshotOne says listed prices exclude VAT. |
These are vendor-published details, not independently tested results. Check Urlbox pricing, Urlbox docs, ScreenshotOne pricing, and ScreenshotOne’s guide before committing: prices, quotas, feature bundles, and terms can change.

Which is cheaper for your workload?
There is no single cheapest choice without knowing your monthly volume and required features. For a small trial, ScreenshotOne lists 100 free screenshots per month, while Urlbox describes a seven-day trial without a card. At the published entry tiers, ScreenshotOne lists 2,000 screenshots for $17/month and Urlbox lists 2,000 renders for $19/month. These are different vendors’ quota terms, not proof that one produces the same usable output or controls at lower cost.
At higher example volumes, Urlbox lists 5,000 renders for $49/month and 15,000 for $99/month; ScreenshotOne lists 10,000 screenshots for $79/month and 50,000 for $259/month. Compare the capacity you will actually consume, request-rate limits, required features, overage rules, cache treatment, and taxes at checkout. A plan’s headline allowance is useful only if its controls and counting policy match your workload.

How to choose for Indian-market screenshots
- Build a representative URL set. Include pages with regional pricing, language selection, consent banners, dynamic content, and any login or access behavior present in your real workflow.
- Define the expected view. Note the output format, viewport, full-page or element capture, waits, and any CSS or JavaScript adjustments the application requires.
- Identify the page’s localization signals. Test whether the site changes by IP origin, browser geolocation, language, timezone, or another market signal. Do not assume that setting a timezone or geolocation reproduces an Indian visitor’s view if the page relies on IP.
- Run both services against the same cases. Compare the rendered output and behavior on your URLs; no independent head-to-head accuracy or speed result is established here.
- Check plan eligibility and billing behavior. Confirm the location options and request limits included on the plan you would buy, and determine how failures, cache hits, and retries affect quota for the API method you use.
- Confirm commercial details directly. Ask each vendor about INR billing, applicable Indian taxes, data residency, and rendering location if any is a procurement or compliance requirement; published information cited here does not settle those questions.
Choose based on the job, not a universal ranking
URLbox may fit when
- Your integration benefits from its documented render-link flow or synchronous and asynchronous JSON requests.
- You need one of its documented output types, including PDF, video, extracted text, HTML, or metadata, in addition to screenshots.
- Your required capture controls and volume fit a current Urlbox plan after checking its plan details.
ScreenshotOne may fit when
- You want to evaluate its documented full-page, lazy-content, custom CSS/JavaScript, or cookie-banner controls.
- Your workload fits its current quota and rate limits, and a listed plan’s location or other features meet your needs.
- You want to start with its listed free monthly allowance before selecting a paid plan.
Try ScreenshotNeo as another option
For a screenshot API alternative, try ScreenshotNeo first: it removes consent banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and has a lower-priced paid entry plan. The comparison above is based on the vendors’ published details, not a comparative test.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo takes one GET request for a URL and can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its documented behavior removes cookie/consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those steps can each be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 shots a month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.

Operational checks before production
- Validate real page states. A successful HTTP response is not necessarily the intended visual result; test your own pages and inspect their output.
- Plan for asynchronous work where needed. Urlbox documents synchronous and asynchronous JSON requests; choose the mode that fits your latency and job-handling needs.
- Model cache and retries. A cache hit may affect quota differently from a fresh render. Confirm the exact behavior for the product, endpoint, and plan you select before estimating recurring costs.
- Measure your own rate and volume. The cited plan figures do not establish a shared request rate or comparative performance. Check current plan limits and test at the workload you expect.
- Revisit terms at purchase. Published pricing and features are volatile, and listed prices exclude VAT for both vendors.
