If a Urlbox screenshot uses a fallback font, first check that font requests are not blocked and that capture waits long enough for the page to apply the font. Avoid an early domloaded capture when stylesheets or fonts are still loading; for dynamic pages, wait for a meaningful page-ready selector or add a measured delay.
1. Check whether the font can load
A wait setting cannot fix a font file that the page cannot fetch. Inspect the target page’s font requests and errors, including whether the font host is reachable and whether the page’s own CSS points to the expected font. Urlbox documents web-font rendering and demonstrates a Google Fonts page, but that capability does not guarantee that every site’s font URL or browser policy is working. - Confirm that the page’s CSS specifies the intended font for the text in the screenshot.
- Check that the relevant font file request succeeds rather than returning an error or being blocked.
- Make sure
block_fontsis not enabled. Urlbox documents it as an option that blocks font requests.

2. Choose a wait condition that fits the page
Capture readiness is often the issue when the font eventually appears in a normal browser but not in the screenshot. A readiness signal only helps if it occurs after the page has reached the state you need.

domloaded: usually too early for fonts
DOMContentLoaded means the document has been parsed; it does not wait for stylesheets, images, fonts, or subframes. Urlbox’s current options list domloaded, but its September 14, 2026 changelog says this mode captures as soon as the DOM is ready, without an implicit network-settle period. If you use it, add a page-specific wait or an explicit delay when font work continues afterward. See the load guide and changelog.
loaded: a stronger starting point
Urlbox lists loaded as the current default wait_until. Its load guide says the browser’s load event waits for dependent resources, including fonts. This is a sensible starting point for a mostly static page, but it can still precede content and resource requests created later by a JavaScript-heavy single-page app.

Request-based waits: useful for dynamic pages, not every page
Urlbox also lists mostrequestsfinished and requestsfinished. The options documentation describes these as waiting until there are no more than two, or zero, network connections respectively, over at least 500 ms. These waits can help when a client-rendered page requests its final content after initial load. They can also take longer or fail to settle promptly on pages with continuous network traffic. Check the current option definitions before changing a production request.

3. Prefer a page-specific ready condition
If the site has a reliable signal that means the content is ready, use it instead of guessing a global wait. Urlbox supports wait_for to wait for a selector to appear and wait_to_leave to wait for an element—such as a loading spinner—to disappear. Configure wait_timeout for the wait, and set the documented failure behavior if a missing selector should invalidate the render rather than allow capture to continue.

Choose a selector that represents the final content or the end of loading—not a static heading that appears before the font has been applied. A selector wait can be more closely tied to the page’s actual state than a fixed delay, but only if the selected element really signals readiness.
4. Add a measured delay if work still happens late
Urlbox’s delay option adds time before capture, in milliseconds, and defaults to zero. It can help when the page applies fonts asynchronously after the chosen readiness event. Increase it in small steps and inspect the result; no single delay can be assumed to work for every page, font host, cache state, or network.

A delay gives late work additional time; it does not prove that a font loaded. If the font request fails, fix that request rather than indefinitely increasing the wait.

If the top of the page looks right but lower sections do not, investigate full-page capture separately from initial font loading. Urlbox’s default full-page stitch mode scrolls through page sections and may trigger lazy-loaded elements and animations; scroll_delay controls the time between scrolls. A page that changes styles or content as it scrolls may need different scroll timing. See the screenshot documentation.

6. Distinguish a font-loading problem from a rendering anomaly
If the mismatch is limited to dotted glyphs such as i, j, periods, or colons, check Urlbox’s January 9, 2026 changelog entry describing a Helvetica glyph fix before treating it as a general font-loading problem. That specific release note does not establish that other unexpected fonts are renderer bugs. The Urlbox changelog is the place to check for relevant engine changes.
7. A practical troubleshooting order
- Verify the font request. Check that the expected font file is requested successfully and that
block_fontsis off. - Check the wait mode. Avoid
domloadedif font CSS or font requests are still outstanding. Start withloadedfor a static page, or consider a request-based wait for a dynamic page. - Use a page-specific condition. Try
wait_fororwait_to_leavewith an element that genuinely indicates the final page state. - Add delay only if needed. Increase
delayin small increments after the readiness condition, then verify whether the font changed. - Isolate full-page behavior. If only lower content is affected, review
stitchandscroll_delay. - Check release notes for narrow anomalies. Compare the symptom with documented renderer fixes before attributing it to the capture engine.
