RocketMod commands are not a second set of universal Unturned cheats. They are commands registered by RocketMod or by individual Rocket plugins, then exposed through Unturned’s chat and server-console pathways. A command can therefore be valid on one server and unknown on another. Vanilla administrator status is also separate from Rocket permission: you may be an Unturned admin and still receive a permission error from a Rocket command.

How Unturned and RocketMod command systems fit together
Three ways a command reaches the server
Unturned accepts commands through player chat, the dedicated-server console, and the command configuration used at startup (commonly Commands.dat). Chat execution is restricted to Unturned administrators. Console and configuration execution occur in the server context, so they do not depend on the sender being a player. Command names are case-insensitive, while argument order and spelling still matter.
Unturned’s parser uses a slash between command arguments. For example, the documented ban form is /ban [SteamID|Player]/[Reason]/[Duration], not a sentence with spaces between each field. Bracketed text describes a value you supply; it is not typed literally. A player name can work where the command accepts Player, but a SteamID is safer when names are ambiguous or change.

RocketMod adds a permission-aware registry
RocketMod and its plugins register their own command names and handlers. In an OpenMod compatibility setup, the listener removes a rocket: prefix when one is present, resolves the resulting command, checks the Rocket permissions, and can enforce a per-command cooldown before execution. This is why a command may appear in help only after its plugin has loaded and why two servers running different plugins can expose different command sets.
The practical rule is simple: an Unturned administrator flag gets you through the vanilla gate, but a Rocket command still needs the permission declared by its plugin (unless that command declares no restriction). Treat the provider and permission as separate checks.

Do not assume a tutorial’s list of /god, /heal, /i, /tp, /vanish, /v, /p, or /rocket reload is a current RocketMod standard. Those names are examples from particular plugin combinations and dates. Verify each command against the plugins installed on your server.

Built-in Unturned administrator commands
The following commands are part of the vanilla reference. Their exact behavior can still vary with the Unturned version, but they do not require a Rocket plugin merely to exist.

Use a stable identifier when possible. For example, if two connected players have similar display names, substitute the intended SteamID in the target field rather than relying on name matching. Keep the slash separators exactly where the syntax shows them; an omitted field can shift the remaining values into the wrong argument position.
RocketMod command examples and their limits
/tphere: a concrete Rocket.Unturned example
The Rocket.Unturned Tphere implementation declares the syntax <player> and the permission Rocket.Unturned.Tphere. It teleports the named player to the person issuing the command. A typical use is:

/tphere AlexThat example has three prerequisites: the Tphere command provider is installed, the provider is loaded without errors, and the sender has a group or direct permission matching Rocket.Unturned.Tphere. The command affects another player, unlike a self-teleport utility that some other plugin might expose.
Frequently seen names that are not guaranteed
Commands such as /tp, /i (item spawning), /v (often a vehicle shortcut), /god, /heal, /vanish, and /p are plugin-defined in RocketMod environments. Their aliases, argument order, and permission strings depend on the specific plugin. The same name can therefore perform a different action, or be absent entirely, after a plugin change.
/rocket reload is likewise associated with Rocket administration workflows rather than a universal Unturned command contract. Before using it on a live server, read the installed Rocket build’s command help and plugin documentation; a reload can change configuration state and may not reload every plugin safely.

Prerequisites before you type a Rocket command
- Confirm the sender’s vanilla status. For chat use, make sure the intended Steam64 account is configured as an Unturned administrator or owner for this server.
- Identify the command owner. Search the installed plugin list and startup log for the plugin that should provide the command. An unknown-command response usually means the provider is missing, disabled, or failed during loading.
- Get the exact syntax. Use the server’s help output or the plugin’s documentation. Check whether the command expects a player name, SteamID, item ID, vehicle filename, or another value, and preserve the documented slash separators.
- Copy the permission string exactly. Permission matching follows the plugin’s declaration, including capitalization and punctuation conventions.
How RocketMod permissions are stored
The two central files
RocketMod’s documented access-control files are Rocket/Permissions/permissions.xml and Rocket/Permissions/groups.xml. The files define direct assignments, groups, and inheritance. A group can inherit permissions from another group, allowing a server to give moderators a common baseline while reserving higher-risk commands for administrators.
Wildcards and explicit denial
The permission system supports wildcard permissions and explicit negation. A wildcard can grant a family of commands, while a more specific negative entry can remove one command from an otherwise broad grant. Because the effective result depends on group hierarchy and rule order, inspect inherited groups as well as the player’s direct entries when access behaves unexpectedly.
What plugin code declares
For commands implemented through an interface, the command’s Permissions property lists acceptable permission strings. An empty array means the command has no permission restriction. One or more entries mean the caller needs at least one matching permission. Attribute-based commands use RocketCommandPermission attributes; multiple attributes are alternatives, so any one matching permission is sufficient.
These declarations explain why adding a guessed permission such as rocket.tp may do nothing. Use the exact string exposed by the plugin, such as the documented Rocket.Unturned.Tphere, and then reload or restart only according to that plugin’s instructions.
Permission-error troubleshooting, in the right order
- Check administrator identity and server configuration. Verify that the player is an Unturned administrator and that the server is using the intended Steam64 account or owner setting. A different account, copied ID, or wrong server profile can make a valid permission assignment appear ineffective.
- Check that the owning plugin is installed and loaded. Read the startup log for load errors and confirm the command appears in the server’s help output. Rocket commands are plugin-dependent; no permissions file can create a command whose plugin is absent.
- Check the permission spelling. Copy the declared value exactly, including capitalization, periods, and other punctuation. For the Tphere example,
Rocket.Unturned.Tphereis materially different from a lower-case or abbreviated guess. - Trace groups and inheritance. Open both
permissions.xmlandgroups.xml. Confirm the player belongs to the intended group, that inherited groups are connected, and that a wildcard is not being canceled by an explicit negation. - Re-check syntax and aliases. Use help output or the plugin’s own documentation to verify the command name, argument order, target format, and any aliases. A permission error and a syntax error can look similar when a plugin rejects malformed input.
Operational cautions for administrators
- Test moderation, teleport, and spawning commands with a noncritical account before granting them to a broad group.
- Prefer SteamIDs for disciplinary actions and automated scripts; display names can be ambiguous.
- Limit item, vehicle, teleport, and invulnerability utilities to trusted groups because their side effects affect progression and server balance.
- Keep a backup of both permission XML files before changing inheritance, wildcard, or negation rules.
- Do not assume a successful command on a test server proves availability on production; plugin versions and installed command providers may differ.
A compact decision path
When you see a command in a guide, first classify it. If it appears in the vanilla reference, use Unturned administrator access and the documented slash-separated syntax. If it is a Rocket name, identify the plugin, read its declared permission, and confirm that the plugin is loaded. If the command still fails, follow the identity, plugin, exact-permission, file-inheritance, and syntax checks in that order. This separates the three common causes—wrong command provider, wrong access rule, and wrong arguments—without changing unrelated server settings.
