“2.5D” describes presentation and movement, not a competitive ruleset. It does not by itself mean a traditional one-on-one fighter, a tag tournament or a three-dimensional shooter. The confirmed format is an action brawler in which players advance through chapter-based story content.
Cooperative play is the defining feature
Steam lists single-player and shared or split-screen co-op, with local co-op for up to four players. Remote Play Together is also listed among the features. These are cooperative options: the group fights computer-controlled enemies and bosses together. The available listing does not establish online competitive PvP, matchmaking, cross-play or a ranked ladder.
That distinction matters when you are planning a session. A four-person local group is a very different proposition from a four-player online team queue. The setting draws on medieval Indonesia, Indonesian folklore and mythology. The world is fictionalized rather than presented as a historical simulation. Chapter-based story progression gives the campaign a sequence of stages, while each hero’s abilities are intended to shape how the group handles encounters.
The listing names GingerSun Games as developer and Soft Source as publisher. It advertises heroes, martial arts, skills, ultimates, enemies and bosses, but it does not provide enough detail to judge how many playable characters will ship, how they are balanced, how difficult the campaign is or how much content the finished release contains.

How the alternatives differ
2XKO: competitive 2v2 tag fighting
Riot describes 2XKO as a free-to-play 2v2 tag-team fighting game. This is the relevant comparison only if “team-based fighting game” means team combat broadly. A shooter places players in a three-dimensional competitive environment and uses ranged combat, objectives and hero abilities. It does not reproduce the side-scrolling movement, local co-op campaign or boss encounters advertised for Unrivaled Heroes.

Which game should you play?
Choose Unrivaled Heroes if you want a local co-op campaign
Put Unrivaled Heroes first on your list if your ideal session is a group on one setup, moving through stages, combining hero abilities and martial-arts attacks, and taking on bosses together. A June 9, 2025 announcement on the game’s Steam Community page said a demo was planned for Steam Next Fest, scheduled for June 10–17, 2025, and described more than 10 unlockable characters in that demo. That announcement records an intended event and character count; it does not prove that the demo or full game is available now.
For current availability, use the live Steam page rather than relying on the dates in that announcement. The listing is also the appropriate place to check whether the status, price or feature set has changed.
