Inside, move the bookshelf in the study and strike the revealed wall to open the route onward.
Where to find the Alchemist’s Workshop
The hidden dungeon is in the lower mines and wooden platforms below Castigator’s Keep, along the route associated with the Ruins of Mammon. Walkthroughs place it in the exterior mine area between Castigator’s Keep and Lonesome Spire, with the projectile’s impact site in a construction area west of the keep. AllThingsHow’s walkthrough and GameSpot’s guide describe the general location.

How to open the entrance
Reliable route: use the Makeshift Projectile
- Travel to the Outskirts of Mammon beacon and follow the southern paths across the bridges.
- Continue past Vlas and beneath the large stone bridge. Search along the southern cliff edge for the Makeshift Projectile. The route and item location are described by PowerPyx and GameSpot.
- Return toward the beacon and use the catapult southeast of it to launch the projectile.
- Go to the lower platforms beneath Castigator’s Keep and follow the cliffside route to the projectile’s impact opening.
Reported shortcut: strike the entrance wall
AllThingsHow reports that players who have already reached the entrance can strike its illusory rock wall directly instead of returning to use the catapult. GameSpot and PowerPyx describe the projectile route but do not confirm this shortcut, so treat it as a single-guide alternative rather than a route established by multiple walkthroughs.

What to do inside the Workshop
Open the route from the study
In the study, interact with the book on the bookshelf to move it, then strike the exposed illusory wall. AllThingsHow says this opens the route to the greenhouse. Its room-by-room walkthrough is the source for these interior steps.

- THEIR FLESH IS YOUR WEAPON: The corpses of exceptional warriors are scattered throughout Mortal Shell 2’s destroyed world. Once discovered, each warrior can be possessed, awakening their innate strengths and mastered abilities. Evolve your own style of combat by harnessing the unique abilities of each warrior and unlock their secrets through the discovery of lost memories.
- CLEANSE A RAVAGED WORLD: Mortal Shell 2’s compact open world connects over winding footpaths guarded by desperate and fanatical adversaries. Players who wander are rewarded with new warriors to possess, additional story elements, powerful and strange weaponry, upgrades, curiosities and more. Step through derelict temples of ancient deities, across forbidden forests and icy graves, into citadels carved out of bone. Scattered between these lost landmarks are more than 60 dungeons, each providing a challenging test of the talents and weaponry you have collected on your journey.
- DETHRONE FALSE GODS: You control the Harbinger, a being that must reclaim the Undermether’s stolen eggs that are now ruthlessly guarded by grotesque, dangerous creatures. Mortal Shell 2’s combat system is agile and expressive. Stamina gauges are removed, and execution options have been enhanced, delivering a kinetic and chaotic dark power fantasy. Precision meets intensity in high-stakes combat.
Open the cell-area route and reach the altar
- In the cell area, shoot the button above the middle cell. AllThingsHow reports that the Sheephead Totem can be collected from the sheep inside.
- Drink the Alchemical Elixir by the table to reveal a passage.
- Cross the narrow bridge to the altar, collect the items there, and pull the lever. The lever raises the gate back in the cell area.
- Continue through that gate and follow the lower route to the final chamber.
Alchemist’s Workshop rewards
Walkthroughs name the following rewards across the dungeon. GameSpot describes the Synaptic Vessel as an upgrade for the Mether’s Flask and Glimpses as materials for shell progression. The other named items are reported in the guides’ item lists.
| Reward | What the guides report |
|---|---|
| Synaptic Vessel | At the altar; GameSpot describes it as an upgrade for the Mether’s Flask. |
| Glimpses | At the altar; reported as materials for shell progression. The guides disagree on quantity: AllThingsHow lists four, while GameSpot lists five. |
| Sheephead Totem | AllThingsHow says it can be collected from the sheep inside the middle cell after shooting the button above it. |
| Clockwork Shardstone | Reported in the final chamber beyond the raised gate. |
| Bloodseed, Dorsalite, Galvanic Shard, and Common Moonshine | Also named in walkthrough reward lists; exact room placement is not established consistently across the cited guides. |
The final guardian’s name is also inconsistent: AllThingsHow describes a serpent-like boss, while GameSpot calls the guardian a Shell Snatcher. The guides do not establish whether those descriptions reflect a naming variation, a version difference, or an error, so the name is best checked in the current game rather than assumed.
