Choose Ultrahuman Ring AIR if keeping your health data behind a recurring paywall is a deal-breaker. Choose Oura Ring 4 if you want Oura’s broader membership-based insights and accept an ongoing fee. Ultrahuman says Ring AIR data access does not require a mandatory subscription. Oura’s US membership costs $5.99 per month or $69.99 per year before tax, and Oura says the ring’s insights and personal health data are much more limited without membership.
This is a comparison of Ring AIR with Oura Ring 4, the Oura generation for which detailed specifications are documented here. Oura’s store also lists Ring 5, so check the generation, price and availability shown for your region before ordering.

Ultrahuman Ring AIR vs Oura Ring 4 at a glance
The two rings make different ownership promises. Ring AIR emphasizes access to your data without a mandatory recurring charge. Oura Ring 4 combines its hardware with a paid membership that unlocks the service’s fuller set of insights. Neither manufacturer’s figures establish a winner for accuracy, comfort or durability, and there is no matched independent test in the available evidence.
| Decision factor | Ultrahuman Ring AIR | Oura Ring 4 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recurring data fee | Ultrahuman says a mandatory subscription is not required for data access. Its Singapore page also says there is no recurring fee for data access. Ultrahuman UK product page and Singapore product page | US membership is $5.99 monthly or $69.99 annually before tax. Oura says features and personal data are much more limited without membership. Oura Membership | Compare the cost over the years you expect to keep the ring, and use local pricing rather than assuming US terms apply everywhere. |
| Advertised battery | 4–6 days, according to Ultrahuman. | Typically 5–8 days for Ring 4, according to Oura. | These are separate manufacturer estimates, not results from a common laboratory test. |
| Weight and construction | 2.4–3.6 g. A regional Ultrahuman specification describes a rechargeable, non-replaceable 24mAh LiPo battery. | Fully titanium; 3.3–5.2 g depending on size. | A lower gram figure does not prove better comfort. Finger shape, ring size and individual tolerance matter more. |
| Documented sensors and data | The cited product pages support the headline weight, battery and subscription claims, but not a complete, matched feature or accuracy audit. | Oura documents LEDs for blood oxygen and heart-rate/HRV sensing, a temperature sensor and an accelerometer. Its membership feature set includes sleep, heart rate, HRV, respiration, temperature, blood oxygen, activity and stress information. | Documented features are not the same as proof that one ring measures them more accurately. |
| Sizing | Choose the size supplied for Ring AIR; do not infer it from an Oura size. | Ring 4 is available in sizes 4–15. Oura says sizing differs by generation and recommends the matching sizing kit. | Use the exact model’s sizing kit before placing an order. |
| Current model context | Availability and delivery information can differ by country. | Oura’s store currently lists Ring 4 and Ring 5, plus chargers and charging cases. | Confirm the generation, stock and local return terms at checkout. |
Subscription cost: the biggest practical difference
Ring AIR’s subscription-free data-access claim is the clearest reason to consider it. Ultrahuman’s UK page says a mandatory data subscription is not required, and its Singapore page describes no recurring fee for accessing data. That does not mean the hardware is free or that every future software feature is guaranteed to remain available; it means the cited product terms do not require a recurring data-access membership.

Oura’s model is different. The US membership page lists $5.99 per month or $69.99 per year before tax. Oura says new members receive the first month free, while prices and terms in other regions differ. Treat the figures below as US list-price examples, not a worldwide quote.
| Membership option | One year | Two years | Three years |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly billing at $5.99 | $71.88 before tax | $143.76 before tax | $215.64 before tax |
| Annual billing at $69.99 | $69.99 before tax | $139.98 before tax | $209.97 before tax |
The monthly arithmetic assumes 12 paid months in each year. An eligible new member’s free first month can reduce the first year’s paid months, but the exact result depends on how the trial and billing are started. Annual billing is slightly cheaper than paying 12 monthly installments at the listed US rates.
Without an active membership, Oura says access to insights and personal health data is “much more limited.” That is a material ownership cost even if you are comfortable paying for the ring once. If you plan to wear a ring for several years, add the membership rate for your country to the hardware price before deciding. Ultrahuman’s no-mandatory-subscription position makes its long-term cost easier to forecast, but the supplied product pages do not establish a universal Ring AIR purchase price for every market.

Ring AIR’s 4–6-day estimate
Ultrahuman lists 4–6 days of battery life for Ring AIR. Its Singapore page identifies a 24mAh lithium-polymer battery that is rechargeable and non-replaceable. Both details are manufacturer-published specifications. Actual runtime will change with use, settings, wireless communication and battery age.

Ring 4’s typical 5–8-day estimate
Oura says Ring 4 typically lasts 5–8 days. Oura’s battery guidance notes that size, settings, enabled features, activity and battery age affect the result. “Typically” is important: the upper end is not a guaranteed runtime for every size or usage pattern.
It would be misleading to declare Oura the battery winner simply because 5–8 is numerically higher than 4–6. The companies may use different test conditions, and no controlled head-to-head battery measurement is established here. Use the ranges to set expectations, then plan to charge either ring periodically rather than treating the published maximum as a promise.
What the non-replaceable battery means
Ring AIR’s cited specification calls its battery non-replaceable. Rechargeable cells lose capacity over time, so an older ring may not match its original 4–6-day estimate. The same general battery-aging issue is covered in Oura’s guidance for Ring 4. Ask about warranty, battery service and replacement options in your market before buying; those terms are not established by the specifications above.

What is documented for Oura Ring 4
Oura describes Ring 4 as a fully titanium ring weighing 3.3–5.2 g depending on size. Its documentation lists LEDs used for blood-oxygen and heart-rate/heart-rate-variability sensing, a temperature sensor and an accelerometer. With active membership, the Oura app presents measurements and derived insights covering sleep, heart rate, HRV, respiration, temperature, blood oxygen, activity and stress, among other functions.

Those are documented capabilities, not a medical diagnosis or a guarantee of clinical-grade measurement. The membership unlocks the service layer that turns recorded signals into the fuller set of trends and interpretations Oura describes.
What the cited Ring AIR material establishes
The cited Ultrahuman pages establish Ring AIR’s weight range, battery claims, rechargeable 24mAh LiPo specification on the Singapore page and the absence of a mandatory data subscription. They do not provide a complete, generation-matched sensor inventory in the supplied material. Do not fill that gap by assuming Ring AIR and Oura use identical sensors, or by claiming one produces more accurate sleep, recovery or heart-rate data.
Why feature checklists do not prove accuracy
A ring can list a temperature sensor or blood-oxygen LEDs without demonstrating how its readings compare with a reference device under controlled conditions. Accuracy can vary with fit, skin contact, movement, temperature, firmware and the type of metric being estimated. No independent study directly comparing these two specific rings is established here, so the responsible comparison is about documented functions and ownership terms, not a made-up accuracy ranking.
Fit, sizing and everyday comfort
Use the correct sizing kit
Oura Ring 4 uses sizes 4 through 15. Oura says sizing differs between generations and recommends the kit made for the exact generation you are buying. A Ring 4 size should not be assumed to fit the same way as a Ring 5 size.

- 【Comfortable & Skin-Friendly】The Oura ring cover is made from premium soft and odorless high quality silicone. It is comfortable & skin-friendly, breathable & washable, durable & elastic. It won't cause allergies or discomfort to your fingers.
- 【Multi Color Choice】Package includes many ring protectors in different colors. You can change the ring cover for your smart ring every day according to your mood or outfit. It only takes a few seconds to give your smart ring a new look.
Do not convert an Oura number directly into an Ultrahuman size. Ring profiles, inner contours and sizing systems can differ even when the printed number looks familiar. Use Ring AIR’s own sizing process, and wear the sample size long enough to notice swelling, sleeping comfort and whether the ring rotates.
Check fit at different times of day
- Your finger can swell with heat, exercise or salty meals.
- A ring that feels acceptable for five minutes may feel too tight overnight.
- The sensor area needs consistent skin contact, but the ring should not cause numbness, pain or discoloration.
- Try normal hand movements, typing and gripping objects before committing to the final size.
Oura’s 3.3–5.2 g range overlaps Ring AIR’s 2.4–3.6 g range. Weight alone cannot predict comfort because size, balance, edge shape and your own finger anatomy affect the experience.

Choose Ring AIR when subscription-free access is decisive
- You want to avoid a mandatory recurring data-access fee.
- You expect to keep the ring for several years and value predictable ownership costs.
- You are comfortable evaluating the product primarily from the documented specifications available in your region.
- You can obtain the correct Ring AIR size and confirm local availability before purchase.
This choice is about the ownership model, not proof that Ring AIR is more accurate or more comfortable. The cited evidence does not establish that conclusion.
Choose Oura Ring 4 when the membership service is worth paying for
- You want Oura’s documented combination of sleep, HRV, heart-rate, respiration, temperature, blood-oxygen, activity and stress features.
- You are willing to pay the membership rate in your region to retain the fuller insight and personal-data experience.
- You prefer a fully titanium design and a published Ring 4 size range of 4–15.
- You have confirmed that Ring 4, rather than Ring 5, is the generation you intend to buy.
This recommendation assumes the membership’s ongoing value matters to you. If you will not maintain membership, account for Oura’s stated limitations before treating the ring as a one-time purchase.

When neither choice is clear
Make a two-column decision list with the features you will actually use, then mark each as “required,” “nice to have” or “irrelevant.” Put subscription cost, sizing confidence and local support in the required column if they affect your budget or willingness to wear the ring. A longer feature list is not automatically better if the service behind it is not something you plan to pay for or use.
A purchase checklist for either ring
- Identify the exact model. Confirm Ring AIR’s current regional listing or select Oura Ring 4 specifically. Oura’s store also lists Ring 5, so do not rely on a generic “Oura Ring” product title.
- Check the local price and terms. Oura’s $5.99 monthly and $69.99 annual figures are US prices before tax. Ultrahuman availability, delivery and pricing vary by market.
- Calculate ownership cost. Add the hardware price, any charger or accessory you need and, for Oura, the membership periods you expect to pay for.
- Order or borrow the generation-matched sizing kit. Do not use a cross-brand size conversion.
- Read return and warranty conditions. Pay attention to the deadline after sizing, battery coverage and what happens if your preferred size is out of stock.
- Plan charging. Both products advertise multi-day battery life, but neither range is a guarantee under every setting. Keep the supplied charger accessible and avoid waiting for a completely empty battery.
- Decide how you will use the data. If you want trends and coaching, check which app views require membership and which are available without it before you finalize the purchase.
Availability and model caveats
Product pages are snapshots. Stock, colors, delivery estimates, regional pricing and return terms can change after publication. Ultrahuman has separate regional pages, including the UK, Singapore and Sweden listings cited above. Oura’s store lists Ring 4 and Ring 5 and also shows charging accessories. Verify the live page for your country rather than relying on a price copied from another market.
If a retailer labels a product only as “Oura Ring,” ask which generation it is and whether the sizing kit matches that generation. The detailed Oura specifications used in this comparison are for Ring 4; they should not be silently applied to Ring 5.

The evidence supports a clear subscription distinction, manufacturer battery ranges, documented Oura Ring 4 hardware and a warning to use model-specific sizing. It does not support a head-to-head verdict on sleep accuracy, recovery scoring, comfort, durability, medical usefulness or long-term battery health. Those outcomes depend on testing conditions and the individual wearer.
For a reader deciding today, the practical verdict is therefore conditional: Ring AIR is the better fit for someone who prioritizes access without a mandatory recurring data fee; Oura Ring 4 is the better fit for someone who values Oura’s membership-based insight ecosystem and accepts its continuing cost. Check the current generation, regional terms and sizing kit immediately before ordering.
