Individual games can still have their own account, age, regional, platform or network conditions. Check the title’s Xbox listing for those details rather than assuming that every free-to-play game works identically.
Games included with Game Pass
Game Pass is a paid subscription that unlocks games in a catalog. You can play an included title while the subscription is active and while Xbox continues to include that title in your selected plan. If the subscription ends or the game leaves the catalog, access through Game Pass ends; buying the game separately is a different way to retain it.

Benefits can differ by Game Pass plan and device. Seeing an offer advertised does not prove that every tier receives it, nor that the same entitlement appears on console and PC. The game itself may also require a particular account connection or publisher account.
What the benefit does not change
The free-to-play game remains accessible under Xbox’s free multiplayer policy even if you decline the benefit. Canceling Game Pass removes the subscription benefit, not the free-to-play status of the base game. Any cosmetic item, character access, currency or other entitlement already governed by the game’s own terms remains subject to those terms.

Game Pass prices, plan names and included features are live commercial details. They can differ by country, platform and current promotion, so use the Xbox plan comparison for the amount shown to your account rather than relying on an old article, screenshot or remembered price. The catalog counts above also should not be used to calculate a value guarantee: a larger number does not ensure that your preferred game is included.

What happens when a Game Pass title leaves?
Catalog access is conditional rather than permanent. A title can remain installed on your console after it leaves the catalog, but installation alone does not preserve the subscription license. You may see a prompt to renew the plan or buy the game. Likewise, ending a subscription can remove access even though the game has not left the catalog.
Save files, achievements and publisher-account progress are separate from the Game Pass entitlement, but the game’s own policies control how those items are retained and used.
