ATB says personal and confidential information was not affected because it is not stored on the resources targeted. Some online services were temporarily taken offline, and restoration was still being reported as underway in coverage published October 5, 2026.
What happened at ATB?
On October 5, 2026, Recorded Future News reported that ATB confirmed a cyberattack after an extortion message appeared on the company’s website. ATB temporarily took some online services offline for what it described as technical maintenance. The website was unavailable at the time of that report. ATB spokesperson Serhii Demchenko separately told UNN that company resources were being restored and were expected to return to normal soon. These are reports from that date; they do not establish the services’ current status. Recorded Future News and UNN

What did the attackers claim?
The group calling itself DataSuckers claimed responsibility, demanded $400,000, and threatened to publish data it said it had stolen. Recorded Future News reported the group’s claim that the dataset covered 7.9 million customers and included contact details and password hashes. The outlet could not independently verify the dataset’s authenticity or the claimed scale. The $400,000 figure is the attackers’ reported demand—not evidence that ATB paid it or incurred a loss. Recorded Future News
Ukrainska Pravda also reported the group’s demand and 7.9 million-customer claim, while relaying ATB spokesperson Serhii Demchenko’s denial that personal data had been compromised on the affected resources. A group’s responsibility claim or posted samples do not, by themselves, establish who carried out an attack or whether the data is genuine. Ukrainska Pravda

What does ATB say about customer data?
ATB’s position, as reported by UNN and Ukrinform, is that the attack did not affect personal or confidential data because such data is not stored on the resources or servers that were targeted. Demchenko told UNN: “Indeed, there was an attempt to hack the company’s resources. Secondly, it is important… this attack did not affect any personal data or any confidential information. That is, there was no data leak because no personal data is stored on these resources.” UNN
Ukrinform reported this statement from ATB’s press service, translated from Ukrainian: “There was a hacker attack on the company’s servers. No personal data was affected, as it is not stored on these servers. All servers will be restored in the near future. The responsible teams are working now.” This is ATB’s account, not an independent technical finding. Ukrinform
What is confirmed—and what remains unknown?
- Confirmed by ATB: The company acknowledged an attempt to hack its resources.
- Reported by the company: Some online services were taken offline, and ATB said restoration work was underway.
- Claimed by the attackers: They stole data relating to 7.9 million customers, including contact details and password hashes, and demanded $400,000.
- Not independently established in the cited coverage: Whether the alleged dataset is authentic, how many people—if any—were affected, whether data was exposed, the technical scope of the incident, and the final restoration status of ATB’s services.
The reports cited here provide no independent technical analysis, confirmed count of affected people, forensic report, or regulator or law-enforcement finding. The available evidence therefore supports neither treating the alleged customer dataset as confirmed nor presenting ATB’s assurance as independently verified.
What should ATB customers do?
The reporting does not establish that customer passwords or other personal details were exposed. Customers should rely on updates from ATB rather than treating the attackers’ figures as confirmed. As a general precaution after any account-security concern, avoid links in unsolicited messages claiming to be about this incident, and do not reuse a password across services.
