To use Odoo for UAE e-invoicing, plan for structured PINT-AE invoices exchanged through the UAE Peppol framework with an accredited service provider (ASP). Odoo documents general Peppol features, but its reviewed documentation does not establish native UAE PINT-AE support or UAE ASP accreditation. Treat Odoo, any connector, and the ASP as one integration—and verify the whole setup against current Ministry of Finance (MoF) requirements.
What UAE e-invoicing requires
The MoF defines an eInvoice as structured invoice data issued and exchanged electronically between a supplier and buyer, with electronic reporting to the Federal Tax Authority (FTA). A PDF, Word document, image, scan, or emailed invoice alone does not meet that definition. A business can still provide a human-readable rendering to a customer, but it does not replace the structured exchange. See the MoF e-invoicing portal and the FTA overview.

The UAE framework uses OpenPeppol and PINT-AE, a national adaptation in the Peppol International specification family. The MoF’s version 1.1 guidelines, dated June 1, 2026, describe the corresponding UAE Data Dictionary and participant identifier format: 0235 followed by the entity’s 10-digit TIN. That TIN is not the full 15-digit TRN.

The guideline says e-invoicing applies to persons conducting business in the UAE for each business transaction unless an exclusion applies. B2B and B2G transactions are central to the scope; listed exclusions include specified sovereign activities and VAT-exempt financial services. E-invoicing does not remove VAT tax-invoice obligations: qualifying tax invoices and credit notes must take the electronic form for persons subject to the system. Check unusual transaction types against current legislation and guidance rather than assuming VAT registration alone determines scope.

How the UAE exchange and rollout work
The MoF describes a five-corner model: supplier, supplier-side service provider, buyer-side service provider, buyer, and the tax-reporting function. In April 2026, the Ministry announced the introduction of the 4-Corner exchange model; Corner 5 reporting was scheduled to go live ahead of the July pilot. In practical terms, this is provider-mediated exchange plus tax reporting—not simply Odoo uploading a PDF to the FTA. See the MoF announcement on the 4-Corner model.
Under the version 1.1 guideline, the pilot commenced on July 1, 2026 for selected persons contacted by the Ministry who agreed in writing; voluntary implementation was available from that date. The phased mandatory dates stated in that guideline are:
Rank #2
| Business group | Mandatory implementation date |
|---|---|
| Businesses with revenue of AED 50 million or more | January 1, 2027 |
| Businesses with revenue below AED 50 million | July 1, 2027 |
| Government entities | October 1, 2027 |
These dates come from the guideline and may be amended. The MoF’s May 10, 2026 announcement extended the ASP appointment deadline for businesses with revenue exceeding AED 50 million to October 30, 2026, while stating that the January 1, 2027 implementation date was unchanged. Check the MoF portal for current decisions and programme materials before acting on a deadline; the Ministry identifies it as the official information source for the programme.
Does Odoo support UAE PINT-AE natively?
The reviewed Odoo documentation is not enough to establish that a standard Peppol setup is UAE-compliant. Odoo 18 documents invoice and credit-note exchange, with formats including BIS Billing 3.0, XRechnung CIUS, and NLCIUS; its published list of eligible Peppol registration countries does not include the UAE. Odoo 19 also documents Peppol registration and exchange, but the reviewed material does not establish UAE PINT-AE support or UAE ASP accreditation. See the official Odoo 18 electronic invoicing documentation and Odoo 19 documentation.
Rank #3
| Capability or requirement | What the reviewed material establishes |
|---|---|
| General Peppol functions in Odoo | Odoo documents Peppol registration and invoice-related exchange features; supported formats and registration availability depend on its documentation and configuration. |
| UAE PINT-AE profile and Data Dictionary | Not established by the reviewed Odoo documentation. |
| UAE ASP accreditation | Not established by Odoo’s reviewed documentation; confirm the provider against the current MoF information. |
| Complete UAE-compliant workflow | Must be verified across the Odoo version, connector or integration, provider, validation, exchange, and reporting flow. |
The word “Peppol” on its own is not proof that a configuration supports the UAE profile. A country-specific profile, correct participant identification, validation, reporting, and an accredited-provider arrangement may require additional integration.
Marketplace connector listings may claim PINT-AE functions, but a listing is not proof of current accreditation, complete compliance, security, or compatibility with a particular Odoo release and ASP. Treat such claims as leads to verify, not as an endorsement or tested result.
How to plan an Odoo integration
- Confirm scope and timing. Check the entity’s implementation phase, revenue basis, transaction types, and any exclusions against the current MoF portal and applicable legislation.
- Inventory the Odoo setup. Record the edition, hosting arrangement, version, company localization, invoice and credit-note flows, customer and supplier master data, tax configuration, and custom modules.
- Map data to PINT-AE. Compare the invoice data your Odoo setup can produce with the current PINT-AE Data Dictionary and mandatory-field resources. Identify missing identifiers, addresses, tax data, classifications, or workflow controls; do not assume similarly named ERP fields map automatically.
- Choose and validate the ASP. Confirm the provider’s current status through MoF information. Ask the provider to document supported Odoo versions and hosting, PINT-AE validation, inbound and outbound coverage, reporting workflow, interface or API method, error and retry handling, status feedback, audit records, security, retention, support, and total cost.
- Test representative cases. Exercise invoices and credit notes, tax categories, currencies, customer endpoints, rejection scenarios, corrections, and reporting. Retain validation results and provider responses. This is an implementation recommendation based on the structured format and provider-mediated model, not a claim that a particular integration has been tested.
- Assign operational ownership. Document monitoring, failure recovery, master-data responsibility, change management, and who will recheck MoF guidance and provider status as requirements evolve.
The MoF portal provides mandatory-field resources, provider-selection guidance, and legislative documents. Use those live materials for the current field requirements rather than relying on a fixed checklist reproduced here.
What to verify before selecting an approach
- MoF accreditation status and the date it was checked.
- Explicit PINT-AE and UAE Data Dictionary support, rather than generic Peppol compatibility.
- Compatibility with the organization’s Odoo version, edition, hosting, and customizations.
- Both required transaction directions, including invoice and credit-note handling.
- Validation behavior, rejection visibility, retries, status updates, and reporting responsibilities.
- Audit evidence, security and retention terms, support arrangements, implementation effort, and full contract cost.
The unresolved practical question is which currently accredited ASP supports a particular organization’s Odoo release, transaction directions, and operating needs. Resolve that with the live MoF information and provider documentation before committing to a configuration.
