You can’t install or use a built-in web browser on a Roku TV or Roku streaming player. To see a web page on your TV, mirror the screen of a compatible Android device or Windows computer, or use AirPlay from a compatible Apple device and Roku model. The browser still runs on the sender device; Roku does not become a browser.
Why you can’t install a browser on Roku
Roku’s official support guidance says Roku TVs and streaming players do not provide a way to browse the internet on the television. Roku does not offer a supported general-purpose browser channel to install. A channel or app that plays video is not the same as a browser for opening arbitrary websites.

The Roku Channel is a streaming service, not a web browser. Its availability on Roku devices, web, or mobile depends on region, but accessing it does not provide general web browsing on your TV.
How to show a web page on your Roku TV
Use screen mirroring from a compatible Android device or Windows computer. The page and browser controls appear as part of the sender device’s screen, and you use that device to navigate. Roku describes mirroring support as dependent on model; most current-generation Roku players and Roku TV models are supported, with exceptions.

- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
- Check compatibility. Confirm that your exact Roku model supports screen mirroring. Roku’s settings and available options can vary by model.
- Check the Roku’s mirroring setting. On the Roku, open Settings and look for the screen-mirroring option. If a connection request appears on the TV, accept it with the Roku remote when prompted.
- Start mirroring from your sender device. On a compatible Android device or Windows computer, use its screen-mirroring or wireless-display controls and select the Roku. The control name and route vary by device.
- Open the browser on the sender device. Navigate to the web page there. The Roku displays the mirrored screen; it does not run the browser itself.
If the Roku does not appear in the sender’s device list, or the connection is refused, recheck model support and the Roku’s screen-mirroring setting. The precise sender-device steps depend on its operating system and model, so a single menu path does not apply to every Android or Windows device.
Screen mirroring, casting, and AirPlay: what’s the difference?
| Method | What appears on the TV | Sender-device support | Playback and controls | Compatibility caveat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Screen mirroring | The sender’s whole screen, including browser controls and other visible content. | Compatible Android devices and Windows computers. | The sender device controls what is displayed and is used to browse. | Roku support depends on the exact model; confirm compatibility. |
| Casting | Content selected in a mobile app that supports casting, rather than the sender’s entire screen. | A supported casting app and compatible Roku setup. | The app initiates playback; control may be available from the sender or Roku remote, depending on the supported setup. | Only works for supported apps and content; it is not a way to cast any open browser page by default. |
| AirPlay | Shared or mirrored content from a compatible Apple device. | Compatible iPhone, iPad, or Mac devices. | Use the Apple device’s AirPlay controls to share or mirror. | Not every Apple device and Roku model is compatible; check the exact Roku model. |
Choose the right option for what you want to watch
- To read or interact with a website: Try screen mirroring from a compatible Android device or Windows computer, or AirPlay from compatible Apple and Roku devices. Expect to navigate using the sender device.
- To play a video from a service: Check whether the service has a Roku channel or supports casting. A supported app can send its selected playback without showing the entire phone or computer screen.
- To use an Apple device: Check AirPlay compatibility for your particular Roku model, then start sharing from the Apple device’s AirPlay controls.
These are ways to share content with a Roku, not ways to install a browser on it. Because model compatibility and service availability can change, check the current support information for your specific Roku and region.
