Tyrese Maxey signed a five-year contract extension with the Philadelphia 76ers in July 2024. NBA.com reported the deal at $204 million; the team’s announcement did not disclose its financial terms. Maxey remains on Philadelphia’s official 2026–27 roster, though his precise rotation role and usage for that season are not established by the available roster and team materials.
What is Tyrese Maxey’s contract with the 76ers?
The 76ers announced Maxey’s re-signing on July 7, 2024, but said the financial terms were not disclosed under team policy. Two days later, NBA.com reported that he had agreed to a five-year, $204 million extension. The $204 million figure is NBA.com’s reported value, not a figure in the team announcement. Philadelphia’s announcement and NBA.com’s report therefore provide different levels of detail rather than competing official contract disclosures.

Is Maxey part of the 76ers’ future?
Yes, the available evidence supports viewing Maxey as a major part of Philadelphia’s future, though it does not amount to a guarantee about team decisions or outcomes. The official 2026–27 roster lists him as a Philadelphia guard. The current roster confirms his membership, but does not establish his minutes, lineup spot, usage or leadership hierarchy.

In its 2026 draft outlook, NBA.com analyst John Schuhmann framed Maxey and VJ Edgecombe as young star guards and argued the franchise should prioritize their timeline. That analysis followed a 45–37 Philadelphia season in 2025–26, a fourth-place finish in the Atlantic Division and a conference-semifinal exit. The outlook contrasted the guards’ timeline with veteran former MVP candidates Joel Embiid and Paul George; it is an analyst’s roster-building view, not an announced Sixers policy. NBA.com’s Philadelphia draft outlook provides that context.

What is not yet clear about his 2026–27 role?
The official roster establishes that Maxey remains with Philadelphia, but the material available does not establish his actual 2026–27 rotation or usage after offseason roster changes. A roster listing alone cannot answer how often he will play, where he will line up or what share of the offense he will handle. Treat those details as unsettled rather than projecting a workload or statistical line.
