How big are Twitch and Kick’s audiences?
In its Q1 2026 report, Stream Hatchet estimated 4.5 billion hours watched on Twitch and 1.3 billion on Kick. It also reported 65% year-over-year growth in Kick hours watched. These are estimates of viewing time across tracked platforms—not counts of unique users or a prediction of how many people will discover an individual channel. The figures describe one quarter and do not establish reach for a particular game, language, region, or creator.

For a creator who prioritizes measured platform-wide viewing scale, Twitch is the stronger default on this evidence. A smaller total platform audience does not necessarily make Kick a poor fit: the audience for your specific content and the activity in the communities you want to reach matter more than the overall total. Which platform pays creators better?
Kick’s published headline terms are more generous by percentage for the revenue streams it describes: it says creators receive 95% of subscription and KICKs revenue, with 5% taken as a processing fee. Its August 27, 2026 article gives a $5 monthly subscription example, with $4.75 to the creator and $0.25 as the processing fee. That example is not a guaranteed take-home amount for every creator or account.

Twitch’s official materials surfaced for this comparison describe a standard 50/50 Affiliate subscription split and higher qualifying levels through the Plus Program. Partners can also earn from ads. Those labels do not establish that a creator will qualify for a particular level or generate a particular amount of ad revenue. Twitch’s current Affiliate threshold was not established in the available official text, so it should be checked in Twitch’s current Affiliate Program FAQ rather than assumed.
A percentage split alone is not an earnings forecast. Income also depends on eligibility, audience size, how many viewers subscribe or send KICKs, ad demand, payment conditions, and the terms attached to an account or program. Check the applicable terms for your country and account before making a financial decision.

How soon can you enable subscriptions?
Kick’s June 26, 2026 help article says creators can enable subscriptions after five cumulative streaming hours, then need to complete setup in the dashboard. This is an access threshold described by Kick, not a promise that viewers will subscribe or that streaming will produce income. Can you stream on Twitch and Kick at the same time?
Both services have rules that can affect simulcasting. Twitch permits simulcasting subject to its terms and restrictions, including limits on merging activity from another platform into the Twitch experience and directing Twitch viewers to another live stream. Review Twitch’s Simulcasting Guidelines FAQ and Terms of Service before you stream to both.
Kick’s described multistream option applies to KICK Partner Program streamers. Kick says to enable the multistream toggle for long-form platforms such as Twitch, and that payout is reduced by 50% during an enabled multistream session. The reduction can make simultaneous streaming a trade-off rather than a free way to combine audiences. Check Kick’s multistreaming instructions and any account-specific agreement before relying on the feature.

Which platform’s rules and community fit your content?
Read each platform’s current terms and community rules against the content you plan to stream, the audience you want to serve, and the moderation work you can sustain. Kick’s Community Guidelines, updated March 19, 2026, prohibit categories that include hate speech and dangerous self-harm content, while describing context-based moderation for many cases. Twitch also publishes terms and community standards. Written rules alone do not establish which platform enforces them more consistently or is safer in practice; the available evidence does not include a comparative enforcement audit.

Which platform should a beginner choose?
- Lean toward Twitch if larger measured viewing scale and an established set of creator features are your priorities. The Q1 2026 hours-watched figures are platform-level estimates, not a guarantee of discovery.
- Consider Kick if its published 95/5 subscription and KICKs split, its subscription-access path, and the fit of its community matter more to you. Confirm the current terms and any relevant eligibility conditions.
- Evaluate simulcasting carefully if you want to build on both services. Twitch’s conditions and Kick’s payout reduction for enabled multistream sessions can change the trade-off.
- Compare your own likely audience and workload rather than treating either platform’s headline numbers as a personal forecast.
