How can security issues be reported to Tuya?
Tuya operates the Tuya Security Response Center (TuyaSRC), which it describes as a central liaison with its security team and a channel for working with security researchers and partners on vulnerability reporting. The center lists [email protected] as a contact. The existence of the channel does not, by itself, establish response times or the outcome of a particular report.
What security protections does Tuya say it uses?
Tuya’s security overview describes secure-by-design and secure-by-default principles, end-to-end authentication and encryption for its smart hardware solutions, firmware and over-the-air update security, and a vulnerability bounty program. Who is responsible for product security and support information?
Tuya Support’s PSTI guidance, last updated December 10, 2024, distinguishes platform capabilities from the duties of the company selling the end product. It says customers must conduct their own test report to verify product safety. It also says Tuya OS 3.3 and above can support meeting technical PSTI requirements, while the customer must publish the product’s security-update support period and a public contact for security reports. Does wider IoT-platform research identify Tuya?
No. A 2023 paper by Bhaskar Tejaswi, Mohammad Mannan, and Amr Youssef evaluated 52 IoT management platforms and reported vulnerabilities in 33; it said 17 platforms had vulnerabilities that could lead to platform-wide attacks. The paper does not name Tuya, so those study-wide findings cannot be used to claim that Tuya was affected.
