Enable the waiting room for a scheduled meeting

In Google Calendar, create or edit the event and add Google Meet video conferencing.

Open Video call options, select the Waiting room tab, and turn on Waiting room.

Select Save to apply the change to the event. Google describes the feature as a way to control who enters and leaves a meeting, and when. Google Meet Help: Use waiting rooms in Google Meet.

Admit people from the waiting room
Once the meeting is underway, open People and look for the In the waiting room list.

Select Bring in next to one participant to admit that person.

Choose whether to admit later arrivals automatically
If you want participants who arrive after the host to enter without waiting, turn on Bring in automatically in the waiting-room settings. Google notes that if a co-host joins, the meeting starts automatically and everyone is moved into it. If you prefer to review arrivals individually, leave automatic admission off and admit people from the People panel. Google Meet Help: Use waiting rooms in Google Meet.
Already in a Meet or Gmail call?
Google documents an in-meeting waiting-room control for calls started in Meet or Gmail. Make sure the waiting room is enabled, then use the Waiting room toggle in the call. The placement may differ from the Calendar setup path. For computer instructions, see Google Meet Help: Start or schedule a Google Meet video meeting – Computer. Mobile has a separate control path, so follow Google’s mobile instructions rather than assuming the desktop tabs are available.

Why you may not see the waiting-room setting
Access can depend on your Google Workspace edition, staged feature availability, or administrator settings. Confirm that you are signed in to the account you use for the meeting. If the control is still missing, ask your organization’s administrator whether the feature is available for your account. Google’s feature overview explains that access can vary, but does not establish a complete eligibility list for every account. Google Meet Help: Learn about features in Google Meet.
