Turn off Gemini’s auto-browse feature
- Open Chrome on your Android device.
- Tap More (the three-dot menu), then Settings.
- Tap Gemini in Chrome.
- Switch off Let Gemini browse for you.
This setting controls Gemini’s ability to browse for you. It is not a switch for every Gemini feature or a command to erase data already associated with your account.

These are separate controls. Turning off auto-browse does not turn off Gemini Apps Activity, and switching off activity does not retroactively mean every conversation has been immediately removed.
What Gemini in Chrome may process
Google says Gemini in Chrome processes the current tab’s content and URL, along with content and URLs from other tabs you have shared. If Keep Activity is on, information from websites visited using the feature is stored in Gemini Apps Activity. Google also says page content may be logged temporarily to your Google Account without appearing in Gemini Apps Activity. Google describes auto-browse as experimental and warns it may share personal information with websites while completing tasks. Review a task before allowing it to proceed, particularly when a site requires personal details or an account sign-in. Details are in Google’s auto-browse help.
What happens when you turn off Gemini Apps Activity
In the Gemini app, open the profile menu, tap Gemini Apps Activity, then select Turn off or Turn off and delete activity. The first option stops the activity setting; the second also initiates deletion of activity covered by that control.

Google states that even with Keep Activity off, conversations may be saved with the account for up to 72 hours so Google can provide the service and process feedback. Work or school accounts may have activity settings managed by an administrator. See Google’s Gemini Apps activity instructions for Android.
If “Gemini in Chrome” is missing
Google says Gemini in Chrome is rolling out gradually, so the setting may not be available to every user. Its eligibility guidance includes being at least 18, being in a supported region, using Android 12 or later with at least 4 GB of RAM, having the latest Chrome version, being signed in to Chrome, and having the device set to English. Work or school accounts require administrator enablement. Check Google’s availability and eligibility guidance; update Chrome and confirm account restrictions if the menu is absent.
