Find a request and check its status

Dropbox Help’s status instructions, updated Aug. 13, 2026, describe this workflow. The help page gives examples such as “Out for signature” and “Completed,” but does not establish a complete list of status labels; the labels shown for a request may vary with its progress.

Track requests in the mobile app
Open the Dropbox app and tap Signature requests on its home screen to find your requests. The status-checking workflow in Dropbox Sign’s web app and the mobile app’s entry point are separate interfaces, but both help you locate requests.

Get email updates and remind signers
Choose notifications for your own tracking
Open your profile settings in Dropbox Sign to manage email notifications. Options include an alert when someone opens a document you sent, an alert when someone signs it, and a daily summary of outstanding requests. You can also choose to receive PDF copies by email when requests are completed. If PDF copies are not included, signers still receive a link to the completed document. These settings are described in Dropbox Help, updated Aug. 13, 2026.
Follow up on an unsigned request
The sender can enable automatic signer reminders. Dropbox says they go out on the third and seventh day that a document remains unsigned, and that this cadence cannot be changed. You can also send a manual reminder from the Documents page. Email notifications help you monitor activity; reminders are a follow-up to the signer.

Monitor requests across a team
Administrators can use the Reporting area of the Dropbox Sign Admin console for broader visibility. Dropbox Help’s report documentation, updated Aug. 12, 2026, lists these reports and plan availability:

The documentation says a requested reporting period’s end date cannot be more than one year after its start date. Plan packaging can change, so check current entitlements in your account before relying on a report being available.

Know when status tracking is not enough
The status beside a document title tells you whether a request is in progress or complete. For the transaction history of a completed request, Dropbox describes a separate audit trail. It records and timestamps transaction information from submission through completion, including information such as an IP address. Dropbox says it hashes the transaction log, includes an identifier for looking up the corresponding log, and records a PDF hash that can be compared with a questionable PDF. Self-signed documents created with Just Me do not include an audit trail. These details come from Dropbox Help’s audit trail overview, updated Dec. 4, 2025.

If you want signer information displayed directly in the document, rather than only checking request status, enable Advanced signature details. It adds the signer’s name, date, and time to the signature block and is off by default. A signature frame is another optional visual treatment; Dropbox says it applies to future documents. These presentation settings are distinct from the live status display. Dropbox Help’s timestamp-setting instructions were updated Apr. 22, 2026.
