Tom’s Hardware reported on October 5, 2026, that the TP-Link Archer BE230 was $79.98 on Amazon, down from $119.99—a 33% discount and the lowest Amazon price seen by that report’s date. The offer was expected to end later that week, so check the listing for current price and availability. The router is marketed as a BE3600 dual-band Wi-Fi 7 model; its advertised class rate is not a guarantee of real-world internet speed.
What “Archer BE230” and “BE3600” mean
Archer BE230 is TP-Link’s model name. “BE3600” is the product-class branding: TP-Link calls it a “BE3600 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 7 Router.” The number refers to the router’s combined maximum wireless rate across its 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, not the speed a device or internet connection will necessarily achieve.

TP-Link lists maximum rates of 2,882 Mbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, adding up to 3.6 Gbps. These are theoretical maximum PHY rates derived from Wi-Fi specifications, not measured internet throughput. Actual results depend on factors including your internet plan, the connected device’s Wi-Fi capabilities, distance, walls and interference. TP-Link’s US Archer BE230 specifications list the supported bands and features.
What the $79.98 deal does—and does not—establish
Tom’s Hardware reported the $79.98 Amazon price on October 5, 2026, as 33% below $119.99 and the lowest Amazon price seen to that date. That “lowest” claim applies to the Amazon price history described in that dated report; it is not a record across every retailer or a promise that the same offer remains available. Read Tom’s Hardware’s deal report and verify the live listing before buying.

For wired connections, TP-Link specifies one 2.5 Gbps WAN port, one 2.5 Gbps LAN port and three 1 Gbps LAN ports. The multi-gigabit ports can be useful if your internet service exceeds 1 Gbps or you have a wired device that can use a faster-than-gigabit connection. A 2.5 Gbps port alone does not increase the speed supplied by your ISP or the capabilities of connected equipment.

The important trade-off: no 6 GHz band
The Archer BE230 is dual-band: it operates on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz and does not support 6 GHz. RTINGS notes that the missing band limits the top speeds available to Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 clients. If you specifically want 6 GHz, compare tri-band routers that include it rather than assuming every Wi-Fi 7 model does.

- Extend Your Coverage with EasyMesh: Add EasyMesh-compatible routers, range extenders, and wireless powerline adapters to form a seamless whole-home network that eliminates dead zones while reducing signal drops and lag when moving throughout your home.
- Full 2.5G WAN & LAN Ports for Future-Proof Networking: Archer BE550 is equipped with one 2.5G WAN port and four 2.5G LAN ports, enabling peak device performance and offering an ideal solution for future-proofing your home network.
- Enhanced Experience with Premium Components: Our proprietary Wi-Fi optimization technology, combined with six strategically positioned antennas and Beamforming, ensures higher capacity, stronger and more reliable connections, and reduced interference.
RTINGS also reports that 5 GHz speeds decline at longer distances. EasyMesh-compatible routers or extenders may help improve coverage in distant parts of a home, but results depend on the layout and the compatible equipment used. RTINGS’ Archer BE230 review discusses its range and band limitations.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Archer BE230 suitable for gaming and streaming?
It may suit high-bandwidth activities when the device is within a suitable range and the internet plan and client can support the workload. Wi-Fi 7 features do not by themselves promise lag-free gaming or smooth streaming in every home. For competitive gaming, RTINGS recommends using the router’s 2.5 Gbps LAN port where a wired connection is practical; Ethernet can provide a more stable link than relying on a distant wireless signal. RTINGS describes the router as adequate for casual gaming.
