The right choice depends on your framework (ESX, QBCore, Qbox, or another supported base), inventory and target APIs, database layer, roleplay design, budget, and ability to maintain updates. The ten entries below are category recommendations rather than a universal performance ranking.
Start by mapping your existing stack, then select resources with documented compatibility, explicit dependencies, a clear update policy, and a safe staging path. Cfx.re describes these add-ons as resources that add functionality to a server, and cautions that community resources are used at the owner’s risk.

When these resources are ready for production, Godlike.Host FiveM game hosting provides a game panel with SFTP/FTP access, up to three free backups a day with restore, and server management through a Discord bot. It is not on Cfx.re’s list of authorized FiveM hosts (fivem.net, 10 Oct 2026).
What “FiveM server script” means in 2026
In FiveM terminology, a script is usually distributed as a resource: a self-contained package that adds a feature such as jobs, inventory, targeting, administration, housing, or economy systems. Cfx.re’s documentation says, “Resources can be used to add functionality to your server.” A resource may contain Lua, JavaScript, or C# code, a resource manifest, client and server files, configuration, and sometimes SQL migrations or NUI assets.

- This game will no longer support Windows 7 or 8 operating systems starting January 30, 2024.
Resources rarely operate in isolation. A police job may require a framework API, inventory item definitions, a targeting system, a database connector, a voice resource, and a particular resource start order. Cfx.re also says, “Use resources at your own risk.” Treat every download as software that must be reviewed, backed up, and tested rather than as a guaranteed plug-and-play component.
The framework directory maintained by Cfx.re lists ESX, ND, QBCore, Qbox, vRP, and VORP among commonly used Lua frameworks. A framework supplies shared player, job, money, callback, and persistence conventions; txAdmin recipes can deploy a framework baseline. FiveM supports C#, Lua, and JavaScript, so language alone does not determine compatibility.
Top 10 picks at a glance
The table is organized by the server need each category addresses. “Compatibility” describes the integration decision you must verify, not a promise that every release works with every version.

1. QBCore for a documented general-purpose foundation
QBCore is a practical starting point when you want a large set of documented, framework-native resources and are prepared to standardize around its conventions. Current comparison coverage treats it as a common choice, but that coverage is editorial and did not perform a cross-framework load test. Do not read ecosystem size as a measured performance advantage.
Check before committing
- Confirm that your chosen inventory, target system, phone, voice integration, and database connector expose QBCore-compatible exports and events.
- List every job and economy resource you intend to run and verify that its item names, callback patterns, and persistence model match your selected QBCore release.
- Read migration notes before importing an existing database; changing schemas later can be more disruptive than changing a UI.
QBCore is most suitable when you can keep a coherent, mostly native stack. Mixing several conversion layers can work, but every bridge adds another update and failure surface.
2. ESX Legacy for established ESX servers
ESX Legacy remains the logical choice for owners who already have a functioning ESX server, a large library of ESX jobs, or staff familiar with ESX events and exports. Its value is continuity: replacing the framework can force changes to characters, jobs, inventory, vehicles, and economy data at the same time.

Migration and compatibility checks
- Identify whether a resource targets the maintained ESX Legacy branch or an older ESX API.
- Compare item, job-grade, society-account, and identifier schemas before running SQL migrations.
- Check whether an inventory or target resource is truly ESX-compatible or expects a bridge that is no longer maintained.
Choose ESX when the surrounding resources and operational knowledge already fit it. A new server should compare the cost of that mature ecosystem with the migration effort required by a newer framework.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →3. Qbox for a modern QBCore-derived architecture
Qbox is discussed in current framework comparisons as a modern option derived from QBCore concepts. It can be attractive to teams that want a newer architecture, but “QBCore-compatible” does not automatically mean “Qbox-native.” APIs, data structures, and supported first-party resources must be checked individually.
Questions to answer before a switch
- Which of your required resources have native Qbox support, and which rely on a bridge?
- What character, job, inventory, and vehicle data migration tools are documented?
- Does the project publish release notes and a clear policy for breaking changes?
Build a small staging server with representative characters and jobs before moving production data. If a core feature depends on an unmaintained compatibility layer, the apparent framework benefit may disappear during routine updates.
4. ox_inventory as the inventory decision
ox_inventory is a commonly encountered inventory resource in the current ecosystem. It should be selected for its data model and API fit, not simply because it is popular. Inventory touches nearly every other gameplay system: item metadata, durability, shops, crafting, weapons, storage, and persistence.
Compatibility checklist
- Confirm the framework bridge and the exact item-definition format.
- Verify how metadata, weight, slots, stash permissions, and vehicle storage are represented.
- Check every job, shop, crafting, and housing resource for the inventory exports it calls.
- Plan a database backup and a reversible migration; inventory conversion errors can affect every character.
Compare ox_inventory with qb-inventory or an ESX-compatible inventory against your actual requirements. A smaller feature set can be safer if it reduces conversion code and duplicate systems.

5. ox_lib for shared utilities and interface components
ox_lib provides shared utility and interface components for resources that support its APIs. A common library can reduce duplicated code and give players consistent dialogs, notifications, menus, progress indicators, and callbacks.

Current PC players can transfer both GTAV Story Mode progress and GTA Online characters and progression with a one-time migration from the legacy version of GTAV to GTAV Enhanced.
- Stunning Visuals - Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes including ray tracing features such as ambient occlusion and global illumination, ray traced shadows and reflections, support for AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS, and more.*
- Faster Loading - Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before by using SSD and DirectStorage on supported devices.
- Immersive Controls - Feel new levels of responsiveness with dynamic resistance via the Adaptive Triggers on the DualSense wireless controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and much more.*
Use it deliberately
- Install the library before dependent resources and follow the documented start order.
- Pin and test a known-good version rather than updating the library independently on a live server.
- Verify framework bridges and UI dependencies; a resource that merely mentions ox_lib may still require another inventory or target API.
Its benefit is greatest when several core resources use the same supported version. Adding it for one isolated script can increase dependencies without delivering much operational value.
6. oxmysql for persistent data
oxmysql is a database connector frequently used for jobs, vehicles, housing, characters, and economy records. The connector is infrastructure: players may never see it, but a mismatch can prevent resources from starting or silently stop data from saving.
Deployment requirements
- Create a dedicated database and least-privilege credentials for the server.
- Read each resource’s SQL file and migration instructions; do not assume two resources use identical table or column names.
- Set the connector to start before resources that issue queries, and monitor startup logs for failed connections or schema errors.
- Test restart persistence with disposable characters before importing production data.
Choose the connector that your selected resources explicitly support. Switching connectors after launch can require query rewrites and migration work, so decide alongside the framework and persistence model.
7. ox_target or qb-target for interaction consistency
Target resources replace ad-hoc key prompts with context actions on entities, zones, and peds. ox_target and qb-target are common choices, but they expose different APIs. The correct one is the target system expected by the rest of your stack.
Prevent interaction conflicts
- Inventory every resource that adds a target zone or entity option and record which API it calls.
- Use one primary target system where possible; parallel systems can create duplicate prompts and conflicting distances or permissions.
- Test job, item, grade, and distance conditions from both client and server perspectives.
If a required job only supports qb-target, installing ox_target may require a maintained bridge or code changes. Treat that conversion as development work, not a configuration toggle.
8. txAdmin recipes and tools for repeatable operations
txAdmin provides an official administration and deployment workflow, and framework recipes can install a baseline stack. Recipes are useful for reproducibility: a new staging instance can be rebuilt from the same documented inputs instead of relying on undocumented manual steps.

- This Certified Refurbished product is tested and certified to look and work like new. The refurbishing process includes functionality testing, basic cleaning, inspection, and repackaging. The product ships with all relevant accessories, a minimum 90-day warranty, and may arrive in a generic box.
Review a recipe before running it
- Read the recipe’s resource list, repository references, configuration files, and version pins.
- Record which framework, database connector, inventory, and default jobs it installs.
- Run it on a disposable instance first, then change server keys, database credentials, permissions, and branding.
- Export your final configuration and document any resources added or removed after the recipe completed.
A recipe is a starting point, not a guarantee that every current resource remains compatible. Keep a backup and a rollback copy before changing a live deployment.
9. A framework-specific job or economy resource
Jobs and economy systems define the daily loop players experience: employment, salaries, shops, crafting, fines, properties, and progression. Select this category only after your framework, inventory, target, and database choices are stable.
Evaluate the actual gameplay system
- Confirm exact support for ESX, QBCore, or Qbox rather than relying on a generic “framework compatible” label.
- Map every dependency, including inventory items, target zones, UI libraries, voice, dispatch, and SQL tables.
- Check how money, society accounts, job grades, cooldowns, and anti-exploit validation are persisted.
- Read update and migration notes, then test a full player journey from character creation to restart and recovery.
A narrowly focused resource with clear documentation is often safer than a large bundle that duplicates systems already installed.
10. A paid specialist resource from a verified storefront
Paid resources can make sense for a core feature that would otherwise require substantial development, such as housing, police, dispatch, or a custom inventory interface. Tebex is a standard monetisation and storefront platform in the FiveM ecosystem, but payment does not remove compatibility or maintenance risk.
Due diligence before purchase
- Read the complete documentation, dependency list, supported frameworks, installation steps, and migration notes.
- Understand licensing limits, escrow or account binding, server-count restrictions, transfer rules, and what happens if the vendor stops updating the resource.
- Check support channels, issue history, release cadence, and whether updates preserve your configuration.
- Install in staging and test conflicts with your existing inventory, target, UI, database, and admin tools before enabling it for players.
Buy only when the feature’s operational value justifies the lock-in and recurring maintenance. Keep an export of your configuration and a fallback plan for removing the resource.
Framework compatibility map
| Framework | When it is the sensible baseline | Main risk to investigate |
|---|---|---|
| QBCore | You want a broad documented ecosystem and can standardize on QBCore APIs | Resources may target different releases or require specific inventory and target choices |
| ESX Legacy | You already operate ESX resources, data, and staff workflows | Older resources may depend on obsolete exports, identifiers, or schemas |
| Qbox | You are prepared to evaluate a modern QBCore-derived stack | QBCore labels may hide missing native support or migration requirements |
| ND, vRP, or VORP | Your chosen resources explicitly support that framework | Smaller or specialized ecosystems can require more custom bridging |
| Standalone | The resource genuinely has no framework state or shared economy dependencies | “Standalone” claims may still conceal inventory, UI, database, or target requirements |
Never choose a framework because a single script advertises support. Choose the framework that minimizes conversion work across your complete planned stack.
Best Value
How to select and install a script safely
- Write the server specification. List framework, inventory, target, database, voice, jobs, economy features, player count goals, and who will maintain updates.
- Collect primary documentation. Use the resource’s current documentation and release page, and confirm the supported game build, framework branch, dependencies, license, and SQL requirements.
- Draw the dependency graph. Put foundational resources first, then libraries, database connectors, inventory and target systems, jobs, UI, and optional features. Mark duplicate systems.
- Build staging. Use a separate server instance and database. Install the smallest working stack before adding optional resources.
- Apply migrations and configuration. Back up the database, run supplied SQL in the documented order, set credentials and convars, and preserve a copy of every changed file.
- Start resources in order. Resolve missing exports and dependency errors before adding another package. Startup logs are evidence; do not suppress errors to make the console look clean.
- Test player journeys. Create a character, join a job, receive and spend money, use inventory and target interactions, store a vehicle or property, disconnect, restart, and verify persistence.
- Load-test your design in staging. No universal cross-framework benchmark establishes a winner, so measure your own scripts under representative players and event rates.
- Promote with rollback. Schedule a maintenance window, back up database and resources, record versions, and keep the previous build available until players complete normal sessions successfully.
Common failure modes and fixes
“No such export” or missing dependency errors
The dependent resource is starting before its library, target, inventory, or framework, or it expects a different API. Check the documented start order and exact export name; install the required version rather than substituting a similarly named resource.
Players lose items, jobs, or money after restart
Stop the server, restore the last known-good database backup, and inspect connector logs and migration status. Confirm that the resource is writing to the same database and schema that the server reads after restart.
Duplicate menus or interaction prompts
Two resources are providing the same inventory, target, phone, or UI function. Disable the duplicate, or configure a documented bridge; do not leave both systems active and hope players will choose the correct prompt.

A paid resource works in staging but not production
Check license or account binding, server identifiers, escrow requirements, missing production convars, and differences between staging and production database schemas. Keep purchase records and the vendor’s installation instructions with your deployment notes.
Updates break a previously stable stack
Read release notes, test updates on a clone, and upgrade one foundational component at a time. If a migration is irreversible, restore the backup and postpone the upgrade until the dependency chain is supported.
Are paid Tebex scripts worth it?
| Situation | Community resource is usually better | Paid resource may be justified |
|---|---|---|
| Development capacity | You have developers who can inspect and adapt code | You need a finished feature and cannot build it in-house |
| Risk tolerance | You can accept community support and maintain a fork | You value vendor support, documentation, and a defined release channel |
| Integration | Your stack is conventional and well documented | The vendor explicitly supports your framework, inventory, target, and database |
| Ownership | You need unrestricted source-level control | You accept licensing, escrow, account binding, or server-count limits |
Use the storefront listing as a starting point, then read the vendor’s own documentation and licensing terms. A paid listing that omits dependencies, migration behavior, or support boundaries is not ready for a production decision.
Maintenance plan for 2026 servers
- Keep a version inventory for the framework, libraries, database connector, inventory, target, jobs, and paid resources.
- Subscribe to release and security announcements for every foundational dependency.
- Back up database and configuration before each change; test restoration, not just backup creation.
- Review console errors after restarts and remove abandoned resources instead of accumulating disabled files.
- Document who owns licenses, storefront accounts, server keys, database credentials, and rollback decisions.
- Re-test migrations and player journeys whenever a framework, inventory, database connector, or target API changes.
There is no reliable universal statistic for FiveM script market share, player counts, conversion rates, or performance percentages, and no cross-framework load test establishes one winner. Treat performance as a property of your complete stack and configuration, then verify it on a staging server before production.
Bottom line
For most new builds, begin by choosing between QBCore, ESX Legacy, and Qbox based on the resources and staff you already have. Add one inventory, one target system, one database connector, and only the libraries your chosen resources require. Use txAdmin to make deployment repeatable, stage every change, and treat paid Tebex resources as contracts whose licensing, dependencies, and update policy must be understood. The best FiveM script in 2026 is the one that fits your framework and remains maintainable after the launch-day demo.
