To host Medieval MC MMC3, use the Medieval MC [FORGE] 1.19.2 v19 release and its matching MMC3 FORGE 1.19.2 Server Pack v19. Extract that server pack into a clean folder, run its Forge launch script with 64-bit Java 17, accept the EULA, configure server.properties, and give every player the identical v19 client profile. Older packs, a different Forge build, Java 8, or an unconfigured firewall/router are the usual causes of failed starts and connection errors.

Choose the exact MMC3 release first

Medieval MC MMC3 is the Forge edition of the LunaPixelStudios modpack for Minecraft 1.19.2. CurseForge lists Medieval MC [FORGE] 1.19.2 v19, uploaded November 23, 2023, as the latest release in the project listing, with a separate server download named MMC3 FORGE 1.19.2 Server Pack v19. Download the client profile and server ZIP from that same v19 release.

Do not combine files from v9, v18, or another Minecraft version. The historical v9 server-pack listing is 571.72 MB and dated November 16, 2022; its presence in search results is a warning that an old archive can look legitimate while being incompatible with v19 clients. Keep the release number in your backup name so you can identify exactly what is installed.

What you need before installation

  • A Windows, Linux, or macOS computer that can remain online while players connect.
  • The exact MMC3 FORGE 1.19.2 Server Pack v19.zip.
  • A clean, writable server directory with enough storage for the extracted pack, world data, logs, and backups.
  • A 64-bit Java 17 runtime. Minecraft 1.19.2 requires at least Java 17; Java 8 cannot run this pack.
  • Permission to run scripts, open the host firewall, and—when hosting outside your home network—configure router port forwarding.
  • The matching Medieval MC [FORGE] MMC3 1.19.2 v19 client profile for every player.

Verify the Java runtime from the same account and shell that will launch the server:

java -version

The output should identify a 17.x, 64-bit runtime. If the command reports Java 8, an older installation, or a different executable than the one used by your launch script, correct the PATH or script configuration before troubleshooting anything else.

Install the v19 server pack

1. Create and protect a new directory

Make a dedicated folder such as MMC3-1.19.2-v19-server. Do not extract over another modpack or an earlier MMC3 attempt. Once the server has generated files, stop it cleanly and copy the whole directory to a backup location before changing versions or configurations.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. Extract every server-pack component

Extract the ZIP without renaming, flattening, or selectively deleting its contents. The server pack is a coordinated set, not just a collection of mods. Keep these components together:

  • mods, containing the server-side mod files;
  • config and defaultconfigs, which provide configuration used when worlds and dimensions are created;
  • the pack’s libraries and Forge files;
  • the supplied launch script and its arguments.

Running a script from a different working directory can make relative paths fail, so launch it while the current directory is the extracted server folder. Avoid copying only the mods directory into a separately installed Forge server; that omits the configuration and libraries the pack expects.

3. Run the supplied Forge launcher

Use the launch file included in the v19 server pack rather than inventing a new command. On Windows this is commonly a batch file; on Linux or macOS it is commonly a shell script. If your operating system blocks execution, grant permission to the supplied script or run the command shown inside it from the server directory. The script’s arguments define the Forge installation and memory settings intended by the pack.

The Forge downloads page lists Forge 43.3.5 for Minecraft 1.19.2 on November 2, 2023. Treat that as a dated Forge release reference, not an instruction to install the newest Forge independently. The server pack’s pinned files and launch arguments are the compatibility target; test any Forge change separately and keep a restorable backup.

4. Complete the first boot and EULA step

On first start, the server normally creates files and stops or pauses for the Minecraft EULA. Read the EULA, then set the required acceptance value in eula.txt only if you agree to its terms. Restart the supplied launcher after saving the file.

Allow the first successful boot to finish generating the world and configuration files. The console should eventually report that the server is ready to accept connections. Stop it with the normal console stop command rather than closing the terminal or killing the process; an orderly stop reduces the chance of an incomplete world save.

5. Configure server.properties

After the first clean stop, open server.properties in a plain-text editor. Set the values required for your community—such as the server name/message and gameplay or access options—then save the file and restart. The exact property names and defaults are supplied by the Minecraft server version, so preserve the file’s syntax: one key=value pair per line, with no smart quotes or extra punctuation.

Change one group of settings at a time and keep a copy of the working file. If a later edit prevents startup, restore the last known-good copy instead of deleting the entire server directory.

Start-up checks before inviting players

  1. Run java -version again from the launch environment and confirm Java 17.
  2. Start the v19 launch script from the extracted server directory.
  3. Watch the console until it reports a ready server rather than an exception or repeated restart loop.
  4. Connect from the host computer or another device on the same LAN first. This separates mod-loader problems from Internet routing problems.
  5. Stop the server cleanly, back up the directory, and then test an off-LAN connection after network configuration.

Keep the console and logs directory when diagnosing a problem. The first error in the log is often more useful than the final “server stopped” message.

Make the server reachable outside your home network

LAN play usually works once the server is running and clients match. Remote play adds two controls identified by Minecraft’s official server guidance: the host firewall must permit the Java process, and the router must forward the server’s listening port to the computer running MMC3.

Host firewall

Create an inbound rule for the Java executable or for the server application when your operating system prompts for permission. Apply the rule to the network profile you actually use, and avoid disabling the firewall globally as a shortcut. If Java updates or multiple runtimes are installed, verify that the rule points to the executable used by the MMC3 launcher.

Router forwarding

Give the server computer a stable local address, then forward the chosen external port to that computer’s listening port in the router. The router interface differs by manufacturer, so record the external port, internal address, and protocol you selected. Test from a genuinely external connection, such as a friend’s network or a mobile connection; testing your public address from inside the same LAN can produce misleading results.

If a remote attempt times out, first confirm that the server is running and reachable on the LAN. Then check the firewall rule and router mapping. A refusal usually means no process is listening or a local rule rejected it; a timeout commonly indicates a filtering or forwarding problem.

Every player must match the server

Have each player install the Medieval MC [FORGE] MMC3 1.19.2 v19 client profile and use the Forge loader selected by that profile. The Minecraft version, pack release, and Forge build must align with the server. A player who launches a different release—or adds or removes a mod—can receive missing-mod, registry, or handshake errors before joining.

  • Compare the displayed pack version: it must be v19 on both sides.
  • Confirm Minecraft is 1.19.2, not a neighboring 1.19 release.
  • Use the same Forge build intended by the v19 pack rather than installing a newer loader automatically.
  • Remove manually added mods while testing; reintroduce additions only after a clean connection is established.
  • When an error appears, capture the complete client and server log rather than only the short in-game message.

Troubleshoot the failures that occur most often

Symptom Likely cause Corrective action
Unsupported class-version, JVM, or Java launch error The process is using Java 8 or another unintended runtime. Check java -version in the launch context, install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime, and correct the script’s PATH or executable reference.
Missing mods, registry mismatch, or handshake failure Client and server differ in MMC3 release, Minecraft version, Forge build, or mod files. Reinstall the v19 client profile and compare it with a fresh v19 server-pack extraction. Do not mix v9, v18, and v19 files.
Server starts but nobody can join remotely Firewall permission or router forwarding is absent or points to the wrong computer/port. Prove a LAN connection first, allow the Java process through the host firewall, verify the router mapping, and retest externally.
Server exits during startup after file edits A malformed configuration, incomplete extraction, or altered launch argument. Restore the last working backup, re-extract the untouched v19 ZIP into a clean directory, and change one setting at a time.
World loads but performance is poor Load depends on player count, render/simulation distance, hardware, and configuration. Record those variables and the logs, then tune empirically. No authoritative MMC3-specific RAM benchmark establishes a universal allocation or player limit.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Support on Ko-Fi

Memory and performance: measure instead of guessing

The available evidence does not establish a fixed RAM requirement, guaranteed player count, or universal render-distance setting for MMC3. Treat memory as a tuning variable. Start with the launch settings supplied by the server pack, then observe behavior under your real workload.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For each test, record the number of connected players, render distance, simulation distance, hardware, Java version, and relevant log messages. Increase or reduce the allocation only after observing a repeatable symptom such as long tick times, garbage-collection pauses, or an operating-system out-of-memory event. More allocated memory cannot compensate for a mismatched mod set, an overloaded CPU, or a broken network path.

Backups, upgrades, and safe maintenance

Back up before every change

Stop the server cleanly, then copy the entire server directory—including the world, mods, config, defaultconfigs, libraries, scripts, server.properties, and logs—to storage separate from the live folder. Name the backup with the MMC3 release and date. A complete backup lets you roll back a failed configuration edit or modpack upgrade without rebuilding the world.

Keep releases isolated

Install a new pack version in a new directory. Do not overwrite a functioning v19 instance with files from an older archive or a different release. Test the new directory with a copy of the world, verify that clients can connect, and retain the old installation until the upgrade is proven.

Do not auto-upgrade Forge

Forge compatibility is part of the modpack’s release contract. The fact that a newer Forge build exists does not make it safe for MMC3. Match the Forge files and launch arguments delivered with v19; only test another build in a disposable copy and revert if startup or joining changes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Self-hosting versus managed installation

Self-hosting gives you direct access to files, backups, logs, and configuration, but you are responsible for Java, operating-system updates, firewall rules, router forwarding, uptime, and recovery. Managed providers advertise simpler installation workflows: mTxServ promotes one-click MMC3 installation, while Apex Hosting documents selecting MMC3 in its installer. Their current images, prices, support scope, and whether they offer the exact 1.19.2 v19 build must be confirmed at the time you order; an installer label alone is not proof of version compatibility.

Consideration Self-hosting Managed service
Setup effort You download, extract, launch, accept the EULA, configure files, and test networking. The provider may offer a guided or one-click MMC3 workflow.
File and backup control Complete control, provided you create and protect your own backups. Control depends on the panel’s file manager, export tools, and backup policy.
Networking responsibility You handle firewall rules and router forwarding for remote players. The provider normally supplies a public endpoint, but you still configure server access and permissions.
Ongoing price There is no hosting invoice, but you supply hardware, power, storage, and bandwidth. A recurring charge applies; current pricing was not established here.
Support You diagnose Java, Forge, mod, and network failures yourself. Support availability and the boundaries of modpack assistance vary by provider and plan.
Exact MMC3 image You can pin the v19 ZIP directly. Verify that the provider offers MMC3 Forge 1.19.2 v19, not merely a similarly named or newer image.

Choose self-hosting when control and local backups matter more than convenience. Choose managed hosting when you prefer the provider to handle the machine and public networking, but verify the precise pack release before moving a world.

Final launch checklist

  • Server release: Medieval MC [FORGE] 1.19.2 v19.
  • Server archive: MMC3 FORGE 1.19.2 Server Pack v19.
  • Loader: Forge files and arguments supplied with that pack.
  • Java: 64-bit Java 17 confirmed with java -version.
  • Files: mods, config, defaultconfigs, libraries, and launch files extracted together.
  • First boot: EULA accepted, then the server stopped cleanly.
  • Configuration: server.properties edited and syntax checked.
  • Testing: local/LAN connection works before remote testing.
  • Networking: Java allowed through the firewall and router forwarding verified for the chosen port.
  • Clients: every player uses the matching MMC3 1.19.2 v19 Forge profile.
  • Recovery: a dated backup exists before upgrades or major configuration changes.

Following those constraints produces a reproducible MMC3 server: one pinned pack, one compatible Forge environment, one Java 17 runtime, and clients that match it exactly.
