What TMOG adds to system monitoring

Its creator, Dave Plummer, describes it as a way to spot what is slowing a computer and understand why. TMOG’s official overview identifies Plummer as the original author of Windows Task Manager and creator of TMOG.

The vendor lists these destinations in the app: Summary, Performance, Processes, System Info, Startup apps, Users, Services, Power & Freq, Connections, Installed Apps, Disk Space, and Benchmarks. It also describes separate CPU, memory, disk, network, energy, and thermal views. These are vendor-described capabilities, not independently tested results.
How it differs from Windows Task Manager
TMOG is best understood as an additional diagnostic interface, not a proven replacement. The available product information describes process sorting and filtering alongside broader system and energy views, but it does not establish a controlled comparison showing that TMOG is faster, more accurate, or better than Windows Task Manager or another monitor.

When deciding whether it suits your needs, compare the tools on the target machine: supported operating systems and hardware, the process and performance data you need, whether history or recording features matter, compatibility and installation, resource use, and licensing or support terms. The published feature list alone cannot answer how much monitoring overhead TMOG adds on your particular PC.

These versions reflect the official release notes available for this article and may change; check the changelog and download page before installing. The vendor says the listed Linux build will not run on systems such as RHEL 9 and recommends the AppImage on Ubuntu 22.04. Its overview also cautions that behavior, functionality, and sensor availability vary across systems, and that hardware-dependent sensor coverage is incomplete. Do not assume every temperature, power, or frequency reading will be available on every computer.

Free edition, PRO, and licensing
TMOG has a free edition, which the vendor describes as a useful monitor; PRO is presented as an optional tier for advanced capabilities rather than a requirement to retain basic features. The release notes mention Flight Recorder capability and PRO licensing. The official PRO page and store provide current purchase terms; prices may change.
Each purchased PRO license key grants one seat, and additional seats require additional keys. The product page also states that a sale does not commit the vendor to continued development, maintenance, support, compatibility or security updates, or continued distribution. Consider that limitation when evaluating a paid license.
What the vendor says about privacy
TMOG’s official overview says the app sends no usage statistics, hardware inventory, process information, or identifiers, and that its only routine network request is an update check. TMOG may be worth trying if the standard process list does not answer the question you have—for example, if you want to investigate whether a slowdown coincides with disk, network, energy, or thermal activity. Start with the free edition, confirm that your operating system and package meet the published requirements, and check that your hardware exposes the readings you care about. Treat its graphs and readings as diagnostic clues rather than proof of a cause, especially where sensor support is absent or varies by system.

If your needs are limited to checking which app is using CPU or memory, the Windows Task Manager may already be sufficient. If you need advanced history or recording, review what PRO currently includes and its one-seat licensing before buying. No published controlled benchmark establishes comparative accuracy, performance, or monitoring overhead.
