First, know which Titanfall 2 VR mod you mean
“Titanfall 2 VR mod” currently refers to at least two distinct community projects. Their installation methods and stated features are not interchangeable, and neither is an official EA or Respawn release.

TinyBlkDog’s Northstar plugin
The TinyBlkDog project README describes it as “A VR mod for Titanfall 2’s single-player campaign.” It labels version 0.1.1 an alpha and says the project uses OpenXR as a Northstar client plugin. Its stated prerequisites are Titanfall 2 on Steam or the EA app, Northstar installed and launching the game, an OpenXR runtime, and a PC-VR-capable GPU. The README’s manual setup copies a DLL and INI file into Northstar’s plugins directory, selects an OpenXR runtime, and launches the campaign through Northstar. Follow the project’s own current guide rather than applying these instructions to the other mod.

CircuitLord’s separate installer project
CircuitLord describes a different installer that detects Steam, EA, or Xbox installations, installs Northstar and the mod into a separate TF2VR profile, and keeps VR campaign saves and settings apart from the ordinary campaign. Its README claims full VR campaign support, stereo rendering, full-body inverse kinematics, manual reloads, and Titan controls. These are maintainer-described features, not independently verified results, and do not describe TinyBlkDog’s plugin. Pick a Titanfall 2 mod for the campaign
Choose this route if the draw is Titanfall 2 itself: its campaign and the change between pilot movement and Titan combat. You will be adding community VR support to a PC game rather than installing a native VR edition. Decide which project you are considering first, then use that project’s own setup instructions; their requirements, profile handling, and feature claims differ.

Pick Vox Machinae for a broader mix of mech play
Vox Machinae is the clearer fit if you want to inhabit a mech cockpit and have both campaign and multiplayer options, with offline bots also listed by Steam. Its focus is mech combat, not Titanfall’s pilot-and-Titan campaign structure.

Consider Iron Rebellion for multiplayer-oriented mech combat
Iron Rebellion is worth comparing if multiplayer cockpit combat is your priority. MECHA VR’s September 2026 article describes it as multiplayer-focused and says bots are available for solo practice; treat that characterization with the source’s studio affiliation in mind.
What to weigh before installing a mod
- Setup complexity: TinyBlkDog’s documented route calls for Northstar and OpenXR configuration; CircuitLord describes a separate installer and VR profile. Neither should be assumed to follow the other’s guide.
- Compatibility uncertainty: TinyBlkDog reports tests on Quest 3 and Play For Dream MR using VDXR, while other headsets and runtimes are untested. The README does not establish that untested configurations will work or fail.
- Reliability and comfort: TinyBlkDog’s alpha notes frame spikes and lockups, and say lockups can lose progress after the last checkpoint. Its cutscenes follow the player’s head. These are concrete reasons to consider your tolerance for unfinished mod behavior and fast artificial movement, but no reviewed source provides a controlled comfort or performance comparison among these games.
- Hardware: A Quest 3 alone does not run this PC mod. The TinyBlkDog project lists a PC-VR-capable GPU and the base game among its requirements; a headset is only one part of the setup.
- Game mode: A Titanfall 2 mod is the campaign choice, while the comparison games offer their own combinations of campaign, multiplayer, or bot practice. Check the relevant store listing and project documentation for current availability and details.
Is there an official Titanfall 2 VR release?
The project material identifies these as community mods, and no official EA or Respawn VR release is established by the reviewed project documentation. Treat “Titanfall 2 VR” as a modded PC experience, not as a supported official VR edition.
