What do you need to run the mod?
- Titanfall 2: Installed through Steam or the EA app. The project says the game binaries are identical on those platforms.
- Northstar: Install Northstar and confirm that Titanfall 2 launches through it before adding the VR plugin.
- An OpenXR runtime: The project was developed against Virtual Desktop’s VDXR runtime, but its README requires an OpenXR runtime rather than stating that VDXR is mandatory.
- A PC-VR-capable GPU: That is the project’s complete GPU requirement. It does not name a minimum GPU model or publish minimum CPU or memory specifications.
Which headsets and runtimes have been tested?
The author reports developing and testing with Meta Quest 3 and Play For Dream MR, both connected through Virtual Desktop’s VDXR runtime. For an existing headset, check whether it can connect to your PC and run through an OpenXR runtime. VDXR is the documented test setup, not a stated requirement to purchase or use Virtual Desktop.
Do you need specific VR controllers?
The plugin presents VR controllers to Titanfall 2 as an Xbox pad, so the game’s controller bindings apply. The project does not publish a required controller brand or a list of certified models. To open the in-headset settings panel, click both thumbsticks at the same time.

How should you tune resolution?
The plugin starts at 75% resolution. Its in-headset Resolution setting goes up to 200%. The README says the mod does not measure your GPU; the lower default is intended to sit below the headset’s full panel resolution.
- If the frame rate is poor, lower the Resolution setting.
- If the image looks soft and frame rate remains stable, raise it.
- When comparing performance reports, include the Resolution setting; the percentage materially affects the comparison.
How do you install TinyBlkDog’s plugin?
- Install Northstar and verify that Titanfall 2 launches through Northstar.
- Close the game.
- From the plugin’s release archive, copy
titanfall2vr.dllandtitanfall2vr.iniintoTitanfall2R2Northstarplugins. - Select an OpenXR runtime. For the documented VDXR setup, the README points to Virtual Desktop’s Streaming settings.
- Launch Titanfall 2 through Northstar and start the campaign.

What limitations and issues should you expect?
The project is alpha software intended for the single-player campaign; its README explicitly says not to use the mod on official servers. Listed known issues include occasional lockups, frame spikes, head-locked cutscenes, and visual artifacts around fades and overlays.
If you report a problem, the project asks for the mod version, headset, OpenXR runtime, GPU, mission or context, reproduction steps if known, and the opening portion of the log. That information helps distinguish runtime, hardware, mission, and plugin issues.
