Back up the game files and campaign save separately
The installed game and your user save files are distinct. A copy of the installation folder does not prove that a save stored elsewhere has been included. Back up both locations before changing files.

- Close Titanfall 2 and its launcher. This avoids copying files while the game or launcher may be changing them.
- Find the installed game folder. Use the storefront steps below rather than assuming the default path is correct; custom library locations are common.
- Copy the game files. Copy the complete
Titanfall2folder to a separate location, or at least copy the files your chosen mod will change if you know which files those are. Keep the copy intact. - Check the possible save location. In File Explorer, inspect
DocumentsRespawnTitanfall2profilesavegame. If the folder exists, copy it to a separate location and check that the copied files are present. An EA forum discussion reports a file namedsavegame.savin this location, but the path is not verified as universal. - Keep the copies until you have tested the modded game. Do not overwrite the original backups while troubleshooting.
Find your Titanfall 2 installation folder
The correct location depends on the storefront and where you chose to install the game. Northstar’s PC manual-installation instructions say its files go into the Titanfall2 folder, and its troubleshooting documentation explains how to locate that folder through Steam or the EA app.

- In your Steam Library, right-click Titanfall 2 and open Properties.
- Open the game’s local files section and choose Browse to open its installation folder.
EA app
- Open Settings → Download and check the listed install location; alternatively, open Titanfall 2’s View Properties → Install location.
- Open that location in File Explorer to confirm it contains the
Titanfall2folder.
Example default Windows locations documented by Northstar include %ProgramFiles(x86)%SteamsteamappscommonTitanfall2, %ProgramFiles%EA GamesTitanfall2, and %ProgramFiles(x86)%Origin GamesTitanfall2. What to know about the save-folder path
The path DocumentsRespawnTitanfall2profilesavegame is a useful place to check on a Windows PC, but it comes from an EA forum discussion rather than authoritative save-location documentation. A Steam Community discussion also reflects that players can have trouble finding Titanfall 2 save files; it does not establish a location. If the folder is absent, do not assume the game has no saves or substitute a guessed path. Folder redirection, storefront, and platform differences may affect where files are found. The cited path should not be applied to Xbox or PlayStation.
Choose a separate backup destination
Use a location separate from the game’s own files so an installation change does not also affect the backup. Another suitable drive or storage location you already have can work; an external SSD or hard drive is optional, not required. Make sure the destination contains a second copy of both the save files you found and the game files you intend to preserve, and label the copies so you can identify where each belongs.

Steam Support documents its backup and restore feature, including compatibility limitations. Its statement that saved games are not included applies to Valve-created games; it does not establish whether Titanfall 2 saves are included or excluded. - Close Titanfall 2 and its launcher.
- Keep the untouched backup safe. Restore only the relevant copied files to their original locations if you need to undo a change.
- Open the game and check whether it works as expected.
There is no established Titanfall 2-specific, one-step restoration recipe for every mod or storefront. If you are unsure which files changed, avoid deleting or replacing files based on guesswork; keep the original backup available while you work out which copy belongs in which location.
