Short answer: Titanfall 2’s flat-screen version uses conventional gamepad or keyboard-and-mouse controls. A community VR mod for the single-player campaign adds a stereoscopic headset view, 6DoF head tracking and motion-controller weapon aiming—but it still maps the controllers to an Xbox-style gamepad, so not every action becomes a hand gesture. The separate vorpX approach described in its documentation uses mouse-emulated tracking and conventional controls, not motion-controller aiming.

The dedicated titanfall2vr community mod documents a headset-based view and control options for Titanfall 2’s single-player campaign. These are documented features, not a controlled comparison of image quality, latency, performance or comfort against flat-screen play.

Headset view and tracking
The mod provides stereo rendering and six-degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) head tracking, with adjustable neck-model and eye-height settings. You can look around by moving your head rather than turning the in-game view solely with a stick or mouse. The documentation does not quantify tracking latency or compare visual fidelity with a monitor.
Weapon aiming
Motion-controller weapon aiming is one of the clearest gameplay differences: the mod lets you aim weapons with the controllers and calibrate their grip offset. Its documented options also include aim-down-sights settings, a zoom cap and an optional steadiness aid. These features change how you point weapons; they do not mean every interaction is performed by physically reaching for or handling objects.

Movement and buttons
The VR controllers are presented to Titanfall 2 as an Xbox-style gamepad, so the game’s controller bindings still apply. The mod adds configurable turning and crouch modes, along with a d-pad modifier because all four d-pad directions are needed. The result combines tracked weapon aiming with gamepad-style button logic rather than replacing the game’s control scheme with a fully gesture-based interface.
HUD and Titan cockpit
The mod documentation describes individual repositioning and scaling for HUD elements such as ammo, reticle and waypoints, as well as Titan cockpit elements. That gives players options for arranging interface elements in the headset view; the documentation does not establish that a particular layout is more readable or comfortable.

How the VR options differ
“Titanfall 2 in VR” can refer to different setups. The dedicated community mod and the vorpX route described in community documentation do not offer the same controls.

The vorpX details are from the developer’s 2020 forum explanation, which says FOV is adjusted by editing the game’s INI file and tracking uses mouse emulation; it also says a memory-scanner button is not used for this profile. The PortalVR listing describes stereoscopic 3D VR with gamepad or keyboard-and-mouse play and no motion aiming. Treat that listing as a secondary description, not proof that the setup works with every system or current software version.

What you need for the dedicated community mod
The project lists Titanfall 2 on Steam or the EA app, Northstar installed and able to launch the game, an OpenXR runtime and a PC-VR-capable GPU. Its documented installation route puts the mod DLL and INI file in Northstar’s plugins folder, then launches the campaign through Northstar.
These are project-stated prerequisites and steps, not a guarantee for every headset or PC configuration. Mod releases and game updates can change requirements or installation details, so consult the project documentation for the version you intend to use. The project describes a single-player campaign mod; it should not be presented as native or official VR support.

Which way of playing fits your priorities?
- Choose flat-screen play if you want the game’s conventional display and standard gamepad or keyboard-and-mouse input without setting up a VR mod.
- Consider titanfall2vr if tracked head movement and motion-controller weapon aiming are important to you, and your PC setup meets the project’s requirements. Expect gamepad-style bindings to remain part of the controls.
- Consider the vorpX route only with care if stereoscopic VR with mouse-emulated tracking and traditional input is what you want. Its cited description is older and secondary; it does not establish current, universal compatibility.
UEVR’s documentation explains a general controller-mapping pattern: default bindings resemble an Xbox layout, with the left stick assigned to movement and the right stick to rotation, and mappings can be changed through OpenXR, SteamVR or Steam Input. The cited project and community documentation describe features and setup, but they do not provide a controlled VR-versus-flat-screen test. They therefore do not support a verdict about which version has better image quality, lower latency, higher performance or greater comfort. Your experience will depend on your hardware and setup, and no general result can be inferred from the feature descriptions alone.
