The free allowance is 100 screenshots per month, but the captures have important restrictions: they are watermarked, show the screen rather than the full page, and use a fixed 1280 × 1024 browser viewport. Thumbalizr’s demo describes Silver as removing the watermark and adding full-page capture. The demo also indicates that larger browser sizes and custom delay are available on Gold and Platinum.

Platinum: higher quotas and the largest displayed browser size
Platinum starts at 5,000 screenshots, with additional displayed price points for 10,000 and 25,000. The pricing table lists browser sizes up to 2000 × 2000 and on-demand picture refresh. The API documentation describes other tier-dependent controls, including delay and browser country options; consult it for the precise parameters available to your account.
API controls and location options
Thumbalizr’s Embed API documentation describes controls for thumbnail width, watermark, screen versus full-page capture, delay after page load, browser width and height, and browser country. The free tier is described as watermarked and screen-only, with a five-second delay and a 1280 × 1024 viewport. The documentation identifies Germany as the default location for Free and Silver and describes broader location options for paid tiers. Because settings vary by tier, use the official API documentation to confirm an option is available on your plan before building around it.
Do not rely on old five-minute rate limits
A Thumbalizr post dated May 7, 2014 described limits of eight new screenshots within five minutes per IP address for unregistered users and 15 within five minutes per free API key. The post explicitly said these limits could change. They are historical figures, not an established current rate limit; the current pricing page states a free monthly quota of 100 but does not specify a present five-minute limit. Service migration announced in 2026
On April 8, 2026, Thumbalizr announced a phased move of its backend from Browshot to ScreenshotCenter. The post said newly created accounts would start on ScreenshotCenter and existing accounts would be transferred in batches, while integrations, API calls, embed codes, and settings would continue to work. It does not establish that every existing account has completed migration. Thumbalizr stated: “Your thumbnails, settings, and API usage will continue to work exactly as they do today.” Read the migration announcement for the company’s update.
Choosing a plan
- Choose Free if 100 monthly captures are enough and a watermark, screen-only capture, and fixed viewport suit your use.
- Consider Silver if removing the watermark or capturing a full page matters more than larger viewport dimensions.
- Consider Gold or Platinum if you need the larger browser sizes shown for those tiers or higher monthly allowances.
- Before subscribing, verify the current price, whether checkout is recurring or one-time, your account’s migration status, and the exact API options available to your plan.
