Putting one repository in front of three teammates does not put their decisions in front of their agents. Each person’s coding agent works from its own session, so a choice made in one chat can stay there while the other two agents propose the opposite. Joxo, as its author describes it, tries to close that gap by connecting a local MCP server on each computer to a relay that carries published handoffs, decisions, blockers, task changes and messages. Everything below comes from that author’s account and from Joxo’s official setup page. None of it has been independently verified, and the price and agent list may change.
Why shared files alone may not reach an active session
A decision written into a notes file or a docs folder only helps when an agent reads it. A session that started before the file changed, or that never opened the file, can keep working from its earlier picture of the project. The author’s scenario is three teammates on different agents in one repository, repeatedly re-explaining the same architectural choices because each agent only knows what its own person has said. The problem is not missing documentation. It is that the decision never enters the session where the work is happening.

The relay model as the author describes it
Each computer runs its own local MCP server. A relay sits between those servers and carries five kinds of coordination traffic:

According to the article, the relay does not store the repository, prompts or transcripts. That is the author’s statement about the design. A formal retention policy, an independent security audit and a service-level commitment were not found for this article, so read the vendor’s data terms before putting anything sensitive through the relay.

What a handoff contains and how it is checked
The article describes a handoff as a package with four parts: a summary, a next step, a branch and a commit. The receiving agent is said to verify that the named commit is present on its own computer. The article does not say what the agent does when that check fails, so test that case directly if your team relies on handoffs.
How updates reach a running agent
Storing a decision is the easy part. Getting it into an agent that is already mid-task is harder, and the article’s answer has three pieces.

Agent-specific hooks and integrations
The author says Joxo installs agent-specific configuration and hooks, or comparable integrations, so that updates reach an agent’s context. Which hooks are written depends on the agent. The article says the configuration writers preserve existing files; it does not show the changes they make.

Where an agent offers no hook mechanism, the article says Joxo relies on MCP instructions and a paced pull, meaning the agent checks for updates at a set rhythm. The one performance figure in the account is the author’s report of about four requests a minute per computer in steady state. The article gives no measurement method, sample size or test conditions, so read it as the author’s estimate, not a benchmark.

Teammates who join later
According to the article, a teammate who joins a project receives the earlier decisions on their first turn. This is another authorial claim. The article does not show a timed test of the join flow.
Superseded decisions
Replacing a decision is the case that breaks most shared-memory setups, because an old instruction can persist alongside the new one. A commenter asked how a session that already received a decision handles it when that decision is later superseded, and whether the next delivery explicitly marks the old version as replaced.

The Joxo account replied that:
- replaced decisions remain in history, recorded as replaced;
- existing sessions are notified on their next update;
- new sessions see only active decisions.
The reply does not quote the wording of that notice. Whether an existing session is told plainly that its earlier instruction is void is therefore something to confirm in a test project before relying on it.

Joxo’s official setup page separates two things that are easy to conflate. Pairing connects agent sessions and shares coordination data. It does not upload project files, and it does not let teammates browse or edit files on your computer remotely. Live file access is a separate, optional feature.

Which agents the account says are supported
The article describes a registry of 28 agents. These are the author’s claims about the list, not compatibility tests run for this piece. Check your specific agent and its version against the current list before a team commits to the workflow.

The article reports a free trial followed by $15 per person per month. Joxo’s official setup material does not confirm that price at the time of writing, so confirm current pricing and trial length with the vendor before budgeting.

- Pair the project folder through the setup prompt. Leave Shared folders off unless you specifically need live file access.
- Record a decision in one session, then check whether the other session receives it on its next turn.
- Supersede that decision. Check whether the existing session is notified, and whether a newly started session sees only the active version.
- Run one handoff that includes a commit, and confirm the receiving side can find that commit locally.
Before you adopt it
- Confirm the current price and trial terms with the vendor.
- Confirm that your agent and its version appear on the supported list, and test on your own machines.
- Read the vendor’s data terms for what the relay stores and for how long.
- Decide whether your team needs Shared folders at all. If it does, plan for the host computer to be online and set permissions deliberately.
