These are Cat Ellis’s recommendations in TechRadar’s October 5, 2026 article, not machines independently tested for this guide.
Which De’Longhi machine suits your routine?
| Machine | Best fit | How much you do | Notable capability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dedica Duo | Budget-conscious buyers wanting a compact manual espresso machine | Prepare espresso and use the steam wand yourself | Its described cold-extraction mode pulses cold water through ground coffee over about two minutes; check the exact regional model |
| La Specialista Touch | People who want guided espresso-making and latte options | Follow on-screen help for grind, dosing, tamping and extraction; choose manual or automatic milk steaming | De’Longhi’s US listing describes a touch display and ten drinks |
| PrimaDonna Aromatic | People who prioritize automated drinks and milk preparation | Select drinks on the touchscreen rather than managing each espresso step | Described with hot and cold espresso, hot or chilled milk foam, a chilled-milk carafe and a five-inch touchscreen |
The recommendations and use-case labels are editorial judgments from Ellis’s article. Manufacturer feature descriptions help establish what a model offers; they do not independently establish that one machine makes better-tasting coffee than another.

Dedica Duo: a compact manual starting point
Choose the Dedica Duo if you want a smaller, more hands-on machine rather than an automatic drink system. Its steam wand gives you direct control over milk preparation, but that also means you do the work of steaming and texturing milk yourself.

Treat that as a description of the model discussed in the article, not a feature to assume on every Dedica variant or in every market. Confirm the precise model number and regional product listing before purchase.
#1 Best Overall
- Please refer to user guide or user manual or user guide (provided below in PDF) before first use
- Includes Portafilter, measuring scoop/tamper and two filters for single or double espresso

La Specialista Touch: guided espresso and latte making
The La Specialista Touch is the fit for someone who wants to learn a hands-on workflow with prompts rather than leave every decision to an automatic machine. As described in the article, the system estimates a grind setting based on bean type and roast, then guides dosing, tamping and extraction. De’Longhi’s US product listing describes a touch display and ten drinks; configurations and availability may differ outside the US.
Milk can be steamed manually or automatically, so it offers a choice between practicing technique and letting the machine handle more of the process. That flexibility makes it more involved than a one-touch automatic, but less unguided than a basic manual setup.

- PERSONALIZE WITH MY LATTE: Allows you to personalize and save your own recipes
- EASY TO CLEAN: Removable and dishwasher-safe parts for easy cleaning
PrimaDonna Aromatic: more automation, more counter-space planning
For a largely automated routine, Ellis recommends the PrimaDonna Aromatic. The article describes hot and cold espresso drinks, hot or chilled milk foam, a dedicated chilled-milk carafe and a five-inch touchscreen. De’Longhi Group’s 2025 annual report records the model’s introduction in 2025.

Check available counter depth, width and cabinet clearance before choosing it: the article flags the machine’s size, and the carafe and other removable parts also need room to handle and clean. The exact footprint and included accessories should be checked against the listing for the model sold in your region.

How to choose between manual, guided and automatic
Choose manual if control and simplicity matter most
A manual machine suits someone willing to grind, dose, extract and steam milk with their own attention. The trade-off is that consistency depends more on your technique, and milk drinks take active work.
Choose guided semi-automatic if you want help without giving up the process
A guided machine can make espresso steps easier to follow while leaving meaningful choices in your hands. The La Specialista Touch’s described prompts and manual milk option fit that middle ground.

Choose automatic if reducing steps is the priority
An automatic machine is the more convenient direction when you want to select drinks and delegate more brewing and milk preparation. Verify which drinks and milk functions are included in the exact model; De’Longhi’s catalog spans machines with different automation and drink options.

- Confirm the full model and market. Similar family names do not guarantee identical features across regions or variants.
- Check the live listing. De’Longhi’s US espresso-maker catalog includes manual and automatic models such as La Specialista Touch, Rivelia, Magnifica Evo, Magnifica Evo Next and La Specialista Opera. Prices and stock indicators can change.
- Do not generalize features across a product family. For example, the Magnifica Evo Next documentation describes up to 13 drinks, personalization settings and LatteCrema Hot, while Magnifica features vary by model.
- Treat cold-drink functions as model-specific. De’Longhi’s La Specialista family page distinguishes features by model: Arte Evo adds cold extraction, while Arte has an eight-setting grinder and dosing/tamping guide. De’Longhi describes cold extraction as using low pressure and room-temperature water.
The same Magnifica Evo Next documentation advises changing grinder settings while the grinder is running, one notch at a time, and describes milk-carafe cleaning. Follow the manual for the exact machine you buy rather than applying care instructions across the range.
