This is Nintendo Life’s staff-voted ranking of eligible games it reviewed—not a definitive ranking of every game released that month.
How Nintendo Life chooses its eShop Selects
To qualify, a game must have been released as a digital-only Nintendo Switch eShop title during the month and reviewed by Nintendo Life. The editorial team selects qualifying games based on the site’s review scores; staff and contributors then vote for their top three. A first-place vote earns three points, a second-place vote two, and a third-place vote one. The votes are tallied to determine the results. Nintendo Life said six games scored at least 7/10 in September 2026.

#1 Best Overall
- eCash - Nintendo eShop Gift Card $100
1st: The Witcher III: Wild Hunt – Remastered
CD Projekt Red developed and published the Switch 2 version, which the feature lists as released on 29 September in both the USA and UK/EU. It also says that owners of the Switch 1 version already own this version when using Switch 2. Reviewer George wrote that it “remains one of the best RPGs out there,” while noting that combat “still isn’t the best” and that performance problems linger.
Joint 2nd: Valheim
Iron Gate developed Valheim, and Coffee Stain Publishing published it. Nintendo Life lists its Switch 2 release as 9 September in the USA and UK/EU and scores it 8/10. Reviewer Ken described it as “an epic survival-crafting game with solid fantasy worldbuilding” and “a fascinating hybrid.” Ken also flagged performance issues and uneven crossplay as drawbacks to the release experience.

What this ranking tells you
The selection combines Nintendo Life’s review-score qualification with a staff-and-contributor vote, so the podium reflects that editorial process rather than a uniform technical comparison or a ranking of every September release. The Switch 2 label applies to the four podium games; the honourable mentions include one Switch 1 title and one available on both generations. Valheim is the one entry for which the feature gives a specific performance and crossplay caveat. The feature does not provide comparable technical benchmarks across the games.
