Will your existing Witcher 3 save work in Remastered?
CD PROJEKT RED’s Remastered FAQ says existing saves are compatible. The important exception is character skills: they reset because the skill system has been overhauled, so plan to reassign them after loading your save.

Does The Witcher 3 support cross-progression?
Yes. Cross-progression lets you upload a save through your CD PROJEKT RED account and open it on another supported platform. The account must be the same on both platforms. The studio says the latest saves upload automatically after cross-progression is set up.

Transfer a save between platforms
- Update the game. Install the latest relevant patch and follow any platform-specific prompts. For the PS4-to-PS5 transfer described in CD PROJEKT RED’s PlayStation transfer guide, the source PS4 game needs Patch 4.04.
- Link the source game. Open My Rewards in the game and connect it to your CD PROJEKT RED account. Cross-progression is enabled by default after linking, according to the cross-progression guide.
- Create a fresh save. Make a new save on the source platform so it can upload. Check for the cloud icon to confirm that it is available in the cloud.
- Link the destination game. On the other platform, sign in to the same CD PROJEKT RED account, then open Load Game and select the uploaded save.
Nintendo Switch players who previously used the GOG or Steam cloud-save integration need the cross-progression feature introduced in update 4.04 to carry saves over; the older integration is not a substitute for these steps, the studio’s guide says.
Will mods interfere with cross-progression?
They can. CD PROJEKT RED’s mod support guide requires the same set of mods to be enabled on both platforms for cross-platform save compatibility. If a mod is missing or incompatible on the destination platform, the save may not load correctly.
Mod availability and console achievements
The in-game Mods menu is powered by mod.io. Connecting a CD PROJEKT RED account to mod.io allows subscriptions to sync, but console-unsupported mods are ignored. Before relying on a PC mod on a console, check its page for the Available on consoles tag. The guide lists the Mods menu for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.

On consoles, trophies and achievements are disabled for modded save files. The game marks a modded save with a mod.io cog icon. You can access a modded save offline only if the mods it needs are already installed; reconnect to install a missing mod.
Mod update and creation caveats
The support guide says XML, script, and w3strings mods will not work upon release of the update it describes unless they are updated. It points creators to REDkit for updating those mods, says script mods must be created via REDkit, and recommends REDkit for the best chance of approval on Xbox Series X|S and PS5. Because the guide does not identify the update by patch number, check its current version context before relying on these specific mod-development statements.

The Remastered FAQ lists PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. It says Nintendo Switch owners can claim the Switch 2 version for free once released, except in Russia and Belarus. The FAQ does not state a release date or price, so neither is confirmed by that source.

How do the Complete Edition and expansion changes affect saves?
A separate CD PROJEKT RED FAQ about the Complete Edition says that, under the change it describes, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine are included in the base game, the standalone expansions are delisted, and the base-game storefront offering is replaced by the Complete Edition. It says saves remain compatible, cross-progression continues to work, and achievements and trophies are unaffected.
