That is CD PROJEKT RED’s QA-based target as reported by PC Gamer, not a guarantee for every system or scene. The game’s path-tracing figures should not be confused with requirements for the 2022 Next-Gen update.
What GPU do you need for Witcher 3 path tracing?
For the Remastered PC release, PC Gamer’s September 29, 2026 report of CD PROJEKT RED’s updated requirements names a GeForce RTX 5080 for the 2160p (4K) path-tracing configuration. The reported target is 60 fps with DLSS and Frame Generation enabled. This is a publisher target transcribed by a secondary source, not an independently reproduced benchmark: the numeric requirements table on the official page is presented as an image and its specific GPU row could not be checked directly here. CD PROJEKT RED says the expected FPS targets are based on QA testing and that occasional frame-rate fluctuations may occur depending on the scene and gameplay. Actual performance can also vary with system configuration, graphics settings, and output resolution. Official PC requirements and performance notes

The 60 fps figure is not a claim of native 4K rendering with path tracing and no frame-generation assistance. CD PROJEKT RED says its path-tracing configuration was measured with upscaling and Frame Generation switched on. For its ray-tracing minimum, ray-tracing recommended, and path-tracing results, DLSS, FSR, or XeSS is set to Auto. The exact target reported for 4K specifically calls for DLSS and Frame Generation. Upscaling renders the game internally at a lower resolution and reconstructs the output; Frame Generation inserts generated frames. Both affect how a displayed frame-rate target should be interpreted. The reported result therefore describes a specific enabled-feature configuration, not the experience with those features off.
Why the Remastered release matters
The title’s current performance question concerns The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, released September 29, 2026. CD PROJEKT RED announced that this version includes path tracing on PC, alongside a free upgrade for existing owners on listed platforms and separate purchase availability on Battle.net and the Microsoft Store. Check the game build and platform before applying its requirements. CD PROJEKT RED: Remastered available now

The 2022 Next-Gen update is a different configuration. Its historical feature announcements discuss ray tracing and DLSS, not the Remastered path-tracing performance target. Do not use its figures or feature descriptions as a substitute for the current path-tracing requirement. NVIDIA GeForce News, December 14, 2022
How to interpret performance on your PC
- Match the target conditions: the reported requirement is for 2160p output with path tracing, DLSS, and Frame Generation—not a blanket 60 fps promise at every setting.
- Expect variation: scene and gameplay can affect frame rate, as can resolution, graphics settings, and the rest of the system.
- Do not infer performance for other GPUs: the available figures do not establish a card-by-card FPS comparison or a reliable threshold for cards below the RTX 5080.
- For meaningful comparisons, hold conditions constant: use the same game build, scene, resolution, graphics preset, path-tracing state, upscaling mode, and Frame Generation state, and record the CPU and system configuration.
In practical terms, the RTX 5080 is the card named for the published 4K path-tracing target, but the target depends on the specified software features and is not a guarantee of locked performance. Current prices, stock, driver behavior, and later patch changes are not established by the cited requirements.
