If a task is not progressing, check that you have accepted Gremist’s request; the distillery cannot be used for this quest beforehand. The steps below follow community-maintained guides, so exact item labels may vary by game language or version.
What you need to collect
The quest’s associated item list names four items: Pimpernel, Mash, Skellige spirit, and the Distiller’s Log. A walkthrough also describes a letter or instructions at the distillery, but does not establish its exact inventory name.

Find pimpernel in Morskogen Forest
- Travel to the quest marker in Morskogen Forest, south of the Druids’ Camp, and use Witcher Senses.
- Inspect the picked-flower site and follow the tracks. You will meet a druid looking for the missing apprentice; the trail continues through white wolves and splits.
- Follow the downhill route to the encounter involving an armored arachas and a succubus. The confrontation lets you side with the druid or the succubus.
- If you side with the succubus, follow her to her lair and take the pimpernel there. The walkthrough reports that the flower is obtainable whichever side you choose.
You may already have pimpernel from earlier exploration; the walkthrough says prior collection can satisfy this task. The guides do not establish that the choice in the encounter changes whether you can obtain the flower.
Make Skellige spirit at the Hail Hill distillery
- Go to the abandoned distillery on Hail Hill. A cyclops is reported at the distillery, with possible alghouls on the approach; clear nearby enemies if they are present.
- Search the small shack for the Distiller’s Log and the letter or instructions explaining the process. Read the instructions.
- Find the mash, then operate the distilling machine and collect the resulting Skellige spirit.
If the machine or objective does not advance, confirm that you accepted Gremist’s task and read the instructions. The walkthrough says the distillery is unavailable for this quest before you agree to help.

- Trained from early childhood and mutated to gain superhuman skills, strength, and reflexes, witchers are a counterbalance to the monster-infested world in which they live.
- Built for endless adventure, the massive open world of The Witcher sets new standards in terms of size, depth, and complexity.
- Take on the most important contract of your life: to track down the child of prophecy, the key to saving or destroying this world.
Recruit Fritjof for Gremist’s rite
- Find Fritjof in Blandare and convince him to speak with Gremist.
- Go with him to the ritual site and defend him while he performs the rite.
The walkthroughs identify this as one of the three errands but do not document every dialogue option, so the exact persuasion wording may depend on the conversation.
Return to Gremist
After all three tasks are complete, return to Gremist. The walkthrough reports that he accepts Geralt as an apprentice, asks him to wait until the next day while the rite is conducted, and then lets him ask about the reward. Reward totals differ between the available community guides, so a single combined XP or reward figure is not established.

Why a task may look out of order
The errands can appear in a different order, and pimpernel may already be in your inventory from prior collection. Use the active quest objectives to identify which task remains rather than assuming you must follow one fixed sequence. The distillery has one specific prerequisite: accept Gremist’s request before trying to use it.
