Whether it also heals Geralt depends on your difficulty setting, and whether it refills your potions and bombs is not something we could confirm from a current official source. This guide separates what is established from what you should check in your own game.
What meditation is for
Meditation lets you skip ahead to a time of day you choose. That matters because the game tracks time and weather, and the official PC manual shows a HUD element labelled “Current Time of Day and Weather.” Some activities, such as waiting for night or daylight, depend on that clock. Use it when you need a different time of day without walking around until it arrives.

Meditation is available only when no enemies are nearby, according to the community-maintained Official Witcher Wiki. That is secondary-source guidance, not a current developer statement. If the option is unavailable, move away from hostile creatures or end the fight first.

The exact buttons differ by platform and version, and the only official manual we found is an older PC manual, so it is not a reliable guide to current console or Remastered controls. The dependable route is:

- High-quality material
- Durable
- robustness
- Get to a spot with no enemies around.
- Open your platform’s controls or key-binding screen and look for the meditation action, or look for a Meditation entry in the in-game menu.
- Pick the time you want, or let the timelapse run if your version uses one.
- Check the clock afterwards to confirm the time moved as expected.
The Remastered change
CD PROJEKT RED lists The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Its announcement says: “Meditation now features a timelapse instead of a UI screen for a more immersive feel.” That is a presentation change. The announcement does not give button-by-button instructions, so check the in-game controls for your platform.
Does meditation heal you?
It may, depending on difficulty. The Official Witcher Wiki overview says meditation does not restore vitality on Blood and Broken Bones or Death March. By that account, lower difficulties may restore health and the two hardest settings will not. Because this comes from a secondary source rather than a current official one, treat it as a strong hint and test it yourself: note your health bar, meditate, and compare.

| Moves the game clock | Yes; the interface tracks time of day and weather | Official manual (older PC) |
| Timelapse in Remastered | Yes, replaces the UI screen | Official announcement |

| Heals on easier difficulties | Reported to, difficulty-dependent | Secondary (wiki) |
| Refills specific potions or bombs | Not confirmed here | No current official source found |
Does meditation refill potions and bombs?
We could not verify from a current official source which potions, bombs or other alchemy items meditation replenishes in each version, so this guide does not claim any. Before a hard fight, open your inventory and alchemy screens before and after meditating to see what actually changed in your game. Do not assume your supplies are topped up on the strength of a forum recollection, especially if you switch between the original release and Remastered.
Quick Recap
Quick troubleshooting
- Option unavailable: enemies may be nearby; move away or finish the encounter.
- No healing: check whether you are on Blood and Broken Bones or Death March.
- No menu appears in Remastered: that is expected, since it now shows a timelapse.
- Unsure it worked: compare the in-game time before and after.
