Spoilers: Feeding Morkvarg his own werewolf meat kills him under the curse. Giving him Einar’s fang lifts the curse and restores his human form, after which Geralt can kill him or ask for his reward. How to start and investigate In Wolf’s Clothing

Morkvarg appears as a werewolf who cannot be permanently killed while the curse remains. Ordinary food turns to ash, and defeating him in an early fight only delays his return. If you want the meat solution, loot the werewolf meat from his body after a fight. Investigate the garden, including the chapter house and flooded cave, and read Morkvarg’s journal to uncover the curse’s history.

Speak to Einar and learn the fang’s purpose before deciding what to do with him. Morkvarg’s journal links Einar to the crew, and Einar explains that the fang was used to curse Morkvarg; returning it can lift the curse. Killing Einar before learning this can make the fang unusable for that cure, according to Prima’s Complete Edition eGuide and GameBanshee’s walkthrough. If you want to preserve the cure option, get the explanation first.

Does Morkvarg’s reward replace the priestess’s contract reward?
No. Asking Morkvarg for his reward points you toward the stored treasure, including the Novigrad moneylender lead and werewolf decoction page. That does not remove the separate option to report back to the priestess for the contract reward. The treasure lead and contract reward are distinct outcomes.

- Want to see the human-form outcome or preserve the decision? Learn the fang’s use from Einar, lift the curse, then decide whether Morkvarg lives.

- Want the priestess’s contract reward? Report back to her; this remains separate from the treasure lead.
Whether restoring Morkvarg before killing him is morally preferable is a role-playing judgment, not a mechanical advantage established by the guides. Witcher.tools presents the reminder that a witcher’s job is to kill monsters, not people, as journal narration for one possible outcome—not as a universal gameplay rule.
