To move a The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt save between platforms, use the game’s Cross Progression cloud feature: link both copies to the same CD PROJEKT RED account, upload a newly created save from the source platform, then load it on the destination. Look for the cloud icon beside the uploaded save. This is an account-linked cloud transfer, not a raw USB copy.
How Cross Progression transfers your save
Cross Progression uploads a save through the game and makes it available on another platform linked to the same CD PROJEKT RED account. CD PROJEKT RED says the latest saves upload automatically after the feature is connected. The save you want to continue from must be newly created or saved while Cross Progression is active; confirm that a cloud icon appears beside it in the Load Game list.

The menu route varies by platform and version. On Nintendo Switch, the publisher’s instructions begin at My Rewards; on other platforms, account linking or Cross Progression may be available from Load Game. Use the prompt shown in your game rather than expecting every platform to use identical labels.

- Update the game on the source platform. CD PROJEKT RED recommends the latest patch. Check the version shown on the main menu if you are unsure.
- Link the source copy to your CD PROJEKT RED account. On Switch, open My Rewards and follow the account-linking prompts. On other platforms, follow the prompt in Load Game if that is where the game presents it.
- Open Load Game and activate Cross Progression. Select the Cross Progression control shown in the corner of the menu. It is enabled by default after account connection, but you can check or change it at Options → Gameplay → Cross Progression.
- Create a save on the source platform. The game uploads it automatically. Wait until the cloud icon appears beside the save before switching platforms.
- Launch the game on the destination platform and link the same account. Open My Rewards if prompted, then connect the same CD PROJEKT RED account used on the source copy.
- Open Load Game on the destination and select the cloud save. If it is missing or will not load, check account identity, game content, mods, and updates using the troubleshooting section below.

For a same-family Xbox upgrade, Smart Delivery or system transfer is a separate console-migration option; it is not the general cross-platform procedure described above. For other platform pairs, use the game’s Cross Progression feature.

Check content and mods before loading
Match expansions and DLC
CD PROJEKT RED says a save and destination installation need the same game content. Its support example says a base-game save without expansions can load in Complete Edition, but a Complete Edition save cannot load in a base-game installation that lacks expansions or DLC used by that save. If a transferred save does not appear to load, confirm the destination has the required content.
Match enabled mods
For Cross Progression compatibility, the publisher says both platforms need the same set of mods enabled. This matters especially when transferring from PC to console: mods unsupported on consoles are ignored there, and a missing or incompatible mod may prevent the save from loading. Check mod availability and the enabled set before relying on a modded save on another platform.

If the save is missing or will not load
- No cloud icon on the source save: Confirm Cross Progression is active, the source copy is linked to your account, and create a fresh save. Wait for the cloud icon before moving on.
- The save does not appear on the destination: Verify that both copies are linked to the same CD PROJEKT RED account, then check the destination’s Load Game screen after account connection.
- The save appears but cannot be loaded: Check that the destination has the expansions and DLC used by the save. If it is modded, compare enabled mods on both platforms and account for mods unsupported on console.
- The menus do not match these steps: Update the game and follow the account or Cross Progression prompt shown in your version’s Load Game or My Rewards screen. Platform-specific menu placement differs.
What the Remastered upgrade changes
CD PROJEKT RED’s FAQ says save compatibility and Cross Progression continue to work as before. It identifies PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 as Remastered-upgrade platforms, but does not provide a new transfer procedure or a release date. The FAQ also says existing Nintendo Switch owners will be able to claim the Switch 2 Remastered version free once it is released. Treat that as a future availability statement, not confirmation that the upgrade has launched.
