Yes. A Canadian recall notice says certain Taeyangcho Gochujang (Hot Pepper Paste) products contain wheat that is not declared on the label. To check a jar, match its product name, size and UPC to the list below, and confirm that wheat is not declared on its label. The notice is specific to these listed products; it does not mean all gochujang contains wheat.
Which gochujang products are included in the recall?
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) published its notice on October 3, 2026, after a consumer complaint. It names Taeyangcho Gochujang (Hot Pepper Paste), with branding shown in Korean characters only. HYMS Trading Ltd. is identified as the recalling firm.

These identifiers and label condition are from the CFIA recall notice. The notice lists distribution in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. That does not establish that a matching jar could not have been distributed elsewhere.

- Check the product name. Look for Taeyangcho Gochujang (Hot Pepper Paste); the branding may appear in Korean characters.
- Match the package size and UPC. Compare the jar with the three exact size-and-UPC pairs in the table. Recall notices use details such as product name, size, UPC and lot or date codes to identify products; see the FDA’s general food recall guidance.
- Check the label for wheat. The CFIA listing applies to all codes of each listed size where wheat is not declared on the label.
- Check the CFIA notice for updates. The agency says its investigation may lead to additional recalls and that it is verifying product removal. Confirm the current notice before acting, in case details have changed.
What should I do if my jar matches?
Do not consume, serve, use, sell or distribute the recalled product. The CFIA advises people with a wheat allergy or sensitivity not to consume it, and specifically says people with celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders should not consume recalled products. Return the jar to the place of purchase or throw it out, as the notice advises. It does not provide a procedure for making the product safe through cooking, removing visible paste or home testing.

The notice reported no reactions associated with consumption as of its October 3, 2026 publication. That report does not change the advice to avoid a matching recalled product.
