In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine, “Feet as Cold as Ice” is a Toussaint contract about finding François and hunting the spriggan Grottore. To give François the best chance of surviving, follow him into the cave promptly, investigate the clues, then burn three flower clusters with Igni to draw Grottore out. After the fight, your choice about the trophy determines whether François returns to Jacquette or leaves to seek another challenge.
Where to start the contract
Jacquette can give you the contract near the Nilfgaardian Embassy in Beauclair. She explains that her fiancé François went after Grottore. If the dialogue offers a chance to negotiate payment, you can do so before setting out. You may also encounter the quest by finding François or the cave first. Guides describe François’s camp as west of the Tourney Grounds, while the cave is described as being near the palace foothills. If your map marker differs, follow the active objective and use Witcher Senses rather than relying on a single landmark. Gamepressure

- Travel to François’s camp and wake him, then speak with him.
- If you want to preserve the chance of the favorable outcome, follow him into the cave without delay. Leaving him to confront Grottore alone can result in his death. GameBanshee
If François dies, the quest can still continue: you can investigate the cave and defeat Grottore, or return to Jacquette as a completion route. The exact objective and dialogue differ according to what happened to him. Witcher Wiki

Investigate Grottore’s cave
In the main chamber, activate Witcher Senses and examine the highlighted evidence. Depending on the guide’s description, clues include flowers, bones, tools, a candle, and growth blocking the route forward. Keep inspecting quest-highlighted objects until Geralt identifies the creature as a spriggan, also classed as a relict, and the next objective appears. How to lure Grottore out
Use Igni on three clusters of flowers in the cave. Some guides note that four sets may be visible, but only three need to be burned to trigger the encounter. GameBanshee; Gamepressure
How to fight Grottore and handle the archespores
Grottore moves around the chamber and attacks with its long limbs and roots. Archespores also enter the fight, so watch your surroundings while creating openings to attack Grottore between its strikes and movements.

- At higher difficulty: Deal with the archespores carefully. Their flowers open and close; attack when they are open, and back away when they close. Gamepressure
- Optional potion approach: GameBanshee suggests Superior Golden Oriole as a way to turn archespore poison to your advantage. It is an optional tactic, not necessary to complete the contract. GameBanshee
Choose what happens to François and the trophy
If François survives, speak with him after Grottore is defeated. The choice changes his story outcome, but both living-François routes return to Jacquette for payment.
