The Sinking City 2 Chapters: Main Cases, Objectives, and Optional Content

The Sinking City 2 has five main campaign chapters, in order: A New Day, The Wake-Up Call, A Sight For Sore Eyes, Time And Tide, and Cold Comfort. The Holloway Manor is optional content, not a sixth main chapter. If you are trying to place an objective on screen, use its exact wording alongside the active case and nearby room or item names.

The five main case chapters at a glance

Chapter Where it takes you Useful objective anchors
A New Day From the apartment district toward the Miskatonic Library Annex Apartments, gate mechanism or floodgate, Radio Shop, Library Annex
The Wake-Up Call Through the Library Annex and the open-city route to Devil’s Reef Hotel Church, printing house, crane, hotel, Lorelei
A Sight For Sore Eyes Akeley Memorial Hospital Charge the Prism at three stations; find Faye’s body
Time And Tide Fish Market and a wrecked ship Find three Leyden Jars, open the Broken Hold, and locate the Antikythera
Cold Comfort Caves and the expedition endgame Activate the portal, complete the final route, and face Slither Prime

This is a route overview, not a fixed sequence of every required action. A title-matched objective index and an independently published walkthrough agree on the broad chapter progression, but neither establishes an official, exhaustive tracker list. NerdsChalk Staff’s chapter and objective reference was updated August 21, 2026; a separate walkthrough cross-checked its routes on August 19, 2026. Treat exact objective labels as lookup clues rather than a guaranteed next-step checklist.

How to locate an objective without spoiling the route

  1. Check the active case chapter. The chapter name narrows the search to one of the five campaign groups.
  2. Use the most specific wording you can see. Search the exact tracker text first; if it is not available, note the nearby named room, numbered room, item, poster, or note.
  3. Disambiguate generic labels with context. Names such as Storage, Kitchen, Crypt, or Gallery can occur in more than one chapter. Pair them with a unique room, item, or character name rather than assuming the label points to one location.
  4. Stop at the level of detail you need. A spoiler-light navigator gives chapter names, broad regions, and route signals. A full walkthrough may disclose puzzle answers, exact paths, bosses, and story details.

The objective index flags repeated labels including Crypt, Gallery, Kitchen, Living Room, Locker Room, Staff Room, Storage, Guard Post, Director’s Office, and Find Faye’s Body. Its matches are navigational aids: the same wording does not necessarily mean the same place or goal, and labels may vary by game version or player-facing state. Compare the active case with nearby rooms and associated item names if a tracker phrase does not match exactly.

What is optional, and what belongs to the main campaign?

The Holloway Manor is optional content and should not be counted as a sixth core campaign chapter. Optional investigations also sit outside the main chapter objective index. The five chapters in the table above are the main-campaign structure described by the chapter reference and the separate walkthrough coverage.

Which kind of guide detail should you use?

If you need… Use… What it may reveal
To identify which act contains an objective A chapter-and-objective index Chapter grouping and matching labels; not necessarily the next required action
To orient yourself while avoiding later story details A spoiler-light chapter navigator Broad regions and route signals
To get past a specific obstacle A detailed walkthrough or puzzle solution Exact routes, puzzle answers, bosses, and story details

Use the narrowest guide that answers your question. If you only need to identify a room or case, opening a late-game walkthrough can expose much more than necessary.
