The Sims 4 Gallery may fail because EA’s services are unavailable or because of a local account, network, security, or game-file issue. Check EA’s live server-status page before changing settings; a local fix cannot restore a service that is down. The right next step depends on whether the Gallery tab is missing, it will not connect, or specific content will not load.
First, check whether EA or the platform is having a service problem
Open EA’s server-status page and check The Sims 4 and the platform you use, such as Xbox, PlayStation, or Steam. EA describes this page as the place to check real-time service status when a game or platform connection fails. If it shows an interruption, wait for service to return rather than changing game files or network settings.

A normal status is useful, but it does not prove every Gallery feature is working. If the problem continues on more than one device or network, check current EA announcements or contact EA Help.

The Gallery tab or icon is missing
Check the game edition and version, account restrictions, and whether online social features are enabled. An EA-hosted Gallery troubleshooting thread identifies the Legacy Edition, child account status, and disabled online social features as possible reasons the icon may be absent. Treat these as diagnostic leads: account and parental-control behavior can vary by platform and may change.

The Gallery opens but will not connect or keeps loading
Continue with the network and security checks below. An internet connection is required for online features, but a connection problem is only one possible explanation; service availability, account setup, and local software can also matter. See EA’s online connectivity guidance.
Search results or creations do not appear
Check the Gallery filters and allow time for newly uploaded items to appear. The EA-hosted troubleshooting thread notes that creations using custom content may require the “Include Custom Content” option to be selected before they display.

The same community thread lists antivirus access to the user folder as one possible cause. Check your security software’s guidance and allow only the relevant game access if appropriate; do not disable protection broadly.

On console
Confirm that the console account is linked to an EA account and that the game is updated. In an announcement dated May 30, 2023, EA said console players needed to link an EA account to access the Gallery and that older clients could not connect after that update. This is dated guidance, not confirmation of the current setup process: follow the current instructions for your console and region.

On PC or Mac
If the Gallery tab is missing, check the game’s online social features setting and whether account restrictions could limit online access. If you are using the Legacy Edition, the cited EA-hosted thread says it is unsupported for Gallery access.
Test your connection and security settings
- Check other online services. See whether the device can reach other services. If practical, try The Sims 4 on another trusted network, such as a phone hotspot. This is a diagnostic test, not a recommendation to change providers or buy equipment.
- Interpret the alternate-network test. If the Gallery works on the other network, investigate restrictions or filtering on the original network. If it fails on both, the issue may be elsewhere, including EA service availability, account setup, or game files.
- Review firewall or antivirus permissions. Check that the EA app or launcher and The Sims 4 are allowed through the relevant firewall or security setting. Follow the product’s own instructions, change only the necessary allow-list setting, and restore normal protection after testing.
- Reduce competing network connections if needed. EA Staff account SimQARobo suggested in the troubleshooting thread: “If you have multiple network devices – LAN, wireless, Bluetooth, VPN, etc – try disabling them one-by-one to see if one of them is bad.” If you test this, change one connection at a time and restore it afterward.
Isolate mods, game files, and cache carefully
Test without mods
If service and network checks do not explain the problem, temporarily test the game without mods. Back up important saves first. EA’s The Sims 4 support hub includes resources for mods and game updates, as well as instructions on backing up and resetting the game.

Use a temporary user-folder test only if needed
The EA-hosted troubleshooting thread suggests temporarily moving The Sims 4 user folder to the desktop as a diagnostic test. Preserve the original folder and saves; do not delete it. If a fresh folder changes the behavior, that can help narrow the cause to local user data or settings, but it does not by itself identify the exact file responsible.

Cache clearing is a local troubleshooting measure, not a Gallery outage fix. EA Help says, “Clearing your cache can’t fix problems like game outages or servers going down,” while noting that it can help with some common issues. Follow EA’s current cache instructions for the specific app or platform; do not assume clearing cache will resolve a Gallery-specific connection problem.
When to contact EA
If the Gallery still fails after these checks, use EA Help or the EA Forums troubleshooting thread. Include details that help distinguish an outage from a local fault:
