Official guidance documents two specific responses: keep your distance from the Pitcher, and use the Tracker to find the Scapegoat before using the Microwave Trigger on it. Treat advice as trial- and version-sensitive: updates and Trial Variators can change the challenge.
Documented enemy counters at a glance
| Enemy | Documented behavior or role | Counter the publisher names | What the evidence does not establish |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pitcher | Throws Molotov Cocktails that explode on impact and leave dangerous fire zones; uses fiery breath at close range. | Keep your distance and watch for fire zones. Red Barrels’ advice is general spacing, not a named Rig or damage weakness. (Red Barrels, December 6, 2024) | No special vulnerability or guaranteed device-based interruption is specified. |
| Scapegoat | An objective enemy in the Courthouse trial. | Use the Tracker to pinpoint it, then use the Microwave Trigger device. (Red Barrels, October 2023 patch notes) | This is an objective procedure, not a general counter for ordinary Ex-Pops. |
| The Biter | A new Ex-Pop introduced with Season 7 and associated with Prison Farm and two Project Boneyard MK-Challenges. | No specific counter is established in the official material reviewed. (Red Barrels, July 9, 2026; Season 7 patch notes) | The cited announcement and notes confirm its introduction, not a mechanical weakness or attack-specific answer. |
How do you counter the Pitcher?
Manage space. Red Barrels describes two hazards: Molotov Cocktails that explode on impact and create fire zones, and fiery breath when the Pitcher is close. Its December 2024 announcement advises players to keep their distance. That makes spacing and awareness of the resulting fire areas the documented response; the source does not say the Pitcher is weak to a particular damage type or that a specific Rig will stop it.
Red Barrels’ wording is direct: “Stay sharp and keep your distance—if you get too close, the Pitcher will unleash its fiery breath to roast you alive!” (Project Breach announcement, December 6, 2024.)
How do you find and stop the Scapegoat?
- Equip or use the Tracker to pinpoint the Scapegoat during its objective.
- Once located, use the Microwave Trigger device against it, following the objective’s requirements.
These instructions come from Red Barrels’ October 2023 Courthouse patch notes. They describe how to handle that objective enemy; they do not show that the Tracker or Microwave Trigger is a universal solution to other Ex-Pops. (Official patch notes.)
#1 Best Overall
What is The Biter weak to?
The Biter is confirmed as a new Ex-Pop in Red Barrels’ July 9, 2026 Project Boneyard announcement and Season 7 patch notes. The announcement places it in Prison Farm and the “Bribe the Judges” and “Cancel the Broadcast” MK-Challenges. Those sources do not document a particular weakness, attack pattern, or counter, so assigning it one would go beyond the available official guidance. Check the current in-game hints and patch notes for any later changes.
What works against other threats?
Use evasion rather than assume a weakness
Red Barrels’ Early Access guidance recommends using stealth, items found in the map, and your Rig to evade enemies. It also says challenge difficulty can increase with progress in Programs and with Trial Variators. This is broad survival advice rather than a current, enemy-by-enemy counter list; the update is older, so it should not be treated as precise present-day balance guidance. (Red Barrels, Early Access update.)
Do not treat old Screamer notes as current balance
October 2023 patch notes say the Screamer’s former stun effect was replaced with brief confusion, and that its detection and area-of-effect ranges were reduced and tuned. That records a change at that time, not a guarantee that the same behavior or balance applies in the current version. (Red Barrels, October 2023 patch notes.)
Verify abilities before building around them
Red Barrels’ March 2024 1.0 notes describe the Invisible Amp as preventing enemies from finding a player in a hiding spot, even if the player peeks. This is a historical description; confirm the Amp’s current availability and effect in-game before making it the foundation of a build. (Red Barrels, 1.0 announcement.)

Why counters can change between trials
The Outlast Trials receives seasonal updates and patches, while Trial Variators and progression can alter the challenge. A tool or tactic that suits one objective should not be assumed to work against every enemy or in every trial. For exact current behavior, prioritize the in-game hints and the patch notes for the version you are playing. Season 7’s announcement, for example, is dated July 9, 2026 and describes content arriving July 14, 2026; those dates identify that update, not a promise that its details will remain unchanged. (Project Boneyard announcement; Season 7 patch notes.)
