It’s a handy way to let a playlist play while you fall asleep without leaving it running all night. Apple lists this capability in the app’s description, though its public materials do not spell out the current setup steps.
How the Clock timer can stop music
Think of it as a sleep timer built into the Clock app: choose a duration and the timer can stop background music when that time is up. Apple says Clock timers can be set in seconds, minutes or hours, and can have labels and distinct sounds. Its listing also says the app supports multiple timers.

Apple’s app listing confirms the stop-music function, but does not document where that choice appears in the current iPhone interface. A timer is not an alarm
A Clock timer used to stop music is different from an alarm. A regular alarm created in Clock is also separate from the wake-up alarm associated with a sleep schedule: Apple says the scheduled wake-up alarm is managed through Health. See Apple’s iPhone alarm guide.

What to know about alarm behavior
Apple says alarms sound even when Silent mode or Do Not Disturb or another Focus is on. If headphones are connected, an alarm sounds through both the iPhone speakers and the headphones. Those statements apply to alarms; they do not establish how a timer behaves in the same situations.
