The game behind the viral “Fallout studio” headline is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, not a newly announced Fallout sequel. Bethesda Game Studios rebuilt the 2006 role-playing game for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, and has confirmed a Physical Deluxe Edition.
The headline points to Oblivion Remastered
Bethesda Game Studios is the developer associated with both Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, which explains the shorthand used in the headline. Its official studio profile also lists Oblivion among its Game of the Year-winning titles.

The current release is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, a 2025 ground-up remaster of the 2006 fantasy RPG. Bethesda describes it as a return to Cyrodiil with new visuals, refined gameplay, memorable characters and a large quest-filled world. It is a remaster of an existing game, not a new, unnamed fantasy IP or a newly revealed Fallout game.
The “10/10” wording should be treated as promotional headline language rather than an established universal score. Bethesda’s own announcements identify the game and its features, but they do not substantiate a single, authoritative 10/10 rating across reviewers.

Where you can play it
Bethesda says the remaster was rebuilt for current-generation consoles and PC:
| Platform | Confirmed by Bethesda |
|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S | Remastered version released for the platform family |
| PlayStation 5 | Remastered version released for the console |
| PC | Remastered version released for PC |
The supplied announcement does not list Xbox One, PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch versions, so the confirmed platform information should not be expanded beyond the three systems above.
A physical Deluxe Edition is now part of the story
Bethesda’s 2025 recap states: “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered now has a Physical Deluxe Edition.” That gives the release a concrete retail option in addition to its digital availability. The announcement confirms the edition exists, but does not provide a complete contents list, regional launch schedule or pricing. Those details can vary by market and retailer.

Why Bethesda’s audience feels worldwide
The remaster’s visibility is arriving alongside unusually large numbers for Bethesda’s existing franchises. In a 2026 update, Bethesda Game Studios said Fallout 4 had recently passed 35 million copies sold. The same update said Fallout Shelter had reached more than 250 million players. Those figures measure different things—copies sold for one premium game and player accounts or participants for a free-to-play title—so they should not be added together or treated as a single audience count.
The television adaptation expanded that reach beyond games. Amazon said the first season of Fallout made its global Prime Video debut in more than 240 countries and territories in 2024 and ranked among Prime Video’s top three most-watched titles ever. That is strong evidence of international exposure, but it is not proof that one game has literally “taken over the world.”
What the remaster changes
Visual presentation
This is described as a ground-up remaster, with new visuals intended to make Cyrodiil feel contemporary on current hardware. Bethesda’s wording emphasizes a refreshed presentation rather than a simple resolution patch.

Gameplay
Bethesda also highlights refined gameplay. The official description does not provide a complete feature-by-feature change log in the material available here, so claims about particular combat systems, quest rewrites or interface changes should be checked against the game’s final documentation rather than inferred from the “ground-up” label.

The same role-playing foundation
The setting, quests and characters remain the reason to identify the release as Oblivion. Players are returning to the world of Cyrodiil and its fantasy role-playing structure, now presented through the remaster’s updated technology.

Oblivion Remastered should not be confused with the projects Bethesda has discussed for the future. Bethesda says Fallout 5 is in preproduction. It also says work is underway on remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, but no release dates have been announced. In addition, Obsidian is collaborating on a new Fallout project.
Rank #4
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered modernises the 2006 Game of the Year with all new stunning visuals and refined gameplay.
For The Elder Scrolls, Bethesda says The Elder Scrolls VI is its primary development focus. Its update described the project this way: “The next chapter is on the way. We’re where we planned to be, loving how it looks, and playing it every day.” That statement confirms ongoing development, not a launch date or a promise that it will arrive immediately after Oblivion Remastered.
What prospective players should take from the hype
- Want the current Bethesda fantasy release? Look for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
- Need a physical copy? Bethesda has confirmed a Physical Deluxe Edition, while local pricing and contents require a regional retailer listing.
- Expecting a new Fallout game? This release is not Fallout 5; that project remains in preproduction.
- Looking for Elder Scrolls VI? It is in development and Bethesda calls it the studio’s primary focus, but no launch date is established.
- Trying to verify “10/10” claims? Treat that score as unverified headline framing unless a named publication or aggregate is cited.
Where the Fallout series is available on television
Amazon’s announcement says the Fallout series debuted globally on Prime Video in 2024. Catalog availability can change by country and over time, so viewers should confirm the current listing in their local Prime Video service rather than rely solely on the original launch announcement.
