It swaps Braid’s time-manipulating platform puzzles for recursive spatial puzzles built from boxes within boxes—a different kind of game, but a strong match for players who like discovering how a distinctive mechanic works.
What makes a puzzle game feel like Braid?
Braid combines 2D platforming with time manipulation. Rewinding and other time behaviors shape its puzzles, so solving a room often means understanding how a world’s particular time rule changes what you can do. The comparison here is about that emphasis on a distinctive puzzle system—not a promise that another game will play like Braid. Thekla’s Steam listing for Braid: Anniversary Edition describes its puzzle-platforming and time mechanics.

Best new puzzle system: Patrick’s Parabox
Patrick’s Parabox makes recursive containment its central puzzle mechanic. You manipulate a world made of boxes within boxes, using the way spaces can contain and interact with one another to solve puzzles. It is a mechanic-first recommendation for a Braid fan: expect spatial logic and recursion, not time reversal or a platforming adventure. The official game site describes the box-based system and lists over 350 hand-crafted puzzles.

Want more Braid rather than a different mechanic?
Braid: Anniversary Edition is the natural choice if what you want is to revisit the time-manipulation platform puzzles themselves. The remaster adds repainted graphics, new puzzles, and extensive recorded creator commentary. Steam lists its release as May 14, 2024, with Windows and macOS system requirements. The Steam listing
The US PlayStation storefront lists the Anniversary Edition for PS4 and PS5. Its page includes differing release-date metadata, so platform availability is clearer than a single universal launch date. PlayStation’s US game page
