The best gym shoes for lifting weights depend on what you do between sets. For a mix of lifting, HIIT and short runs, consider a cross-training shoe such as the Reebok Nano X5, adidas Dropset 4 or Nike Metcon 10. For barbell-focused sessions, a dedicated weightlifting shoe such as the Nike Romaleos 4 is a more specialized option. The “up to 30% off” Prime Day claim in the original headline refers to historical 2025 coverage, not a verified current deal.
Which gym shoes suit your kind of lifting?
There is no single best shoe for everyone who lifts. A shoe that works for strength training plus conditioning has different priorities from one designed mainly for heavy barbell lifts. Start by matching the shoe category to your sessions, then assess fit and stability.

T3 also named the Dropset 4 its Best Workout Shoes for 2026, describing a combination of a stable base and flexibility for dynamic training. RunRepeat’s training-shoe guide and T3’s 2026 fitness awards provide the underlying editorial picks.

Reebok Nano X5: for varied gym sessions
Tom’s Guide describes the Nano X5 as suitable for light running, weightlifting and HIIT, and its writer reports a positive personal experience with stability. That is one reviewer’s experience, not a guarantee of performance for every lifter or foot shape. It is a reasonable candidate if your training blends strength work with conditioning rather than focusing exclusively on heavy barbell lifts. Tom’s Guide’s November 2025 coverage discusses the shoe in that mixed-training context.
#1 Best Overall
- 🎖Sustainable Materials for a Greener Planet: Our shoes are thoughtfully engineered using a combination of TPU, rubber, and Oxford cloth, ensuring a more eco-friendly construction. The seamless TPU technology effectively prevents moisture-induced deformation, while the Oxford cloth offers excellent durability and tear resistance.
- 🏋Precision Design for Unmatched Stability: The shoe's design is all about precision and reliability. With a combination of laces and magic tape straps, you'll experience a secure and locked-in fit that won't budge during your most intense workouts. The thick yet breathable interior lining guarantees maximum comfort and wicks away sweat, keeping your feet dry and happy.
- 👌Enhanced Support for Optimal Performance: Say goodbye to wobbly movements during squats, deadlifts, and power cleans. Our shoes feature a reinforced chassis and widened, heightened heels, providing unmatched stability and support. Experience improved contact with the ground and better balance, granting you that extra edge needed to excel in heavy-weight training.
- 🔒Durable and Slip-Resistant Outsole: We've engineered a high-abrasion outsole with a honeycomb structure, elevating both breathability and stability. The multi-patterned honeycombs dramatically enhance traction, ensuring you stay firmly planted during explosive movements and boosting straight-line traction for impeccable performance.
- 🎁Efficient Heel Support for Heavy Lifts: Worried about deformation while lifting heavy weights? Our shoes have got you covered. The heel support is reinforced for maximum stability, and the 2cm height difference between the front and back of the sole reduces the angle at which your calves meet the ground, providing crucial support for your feet and preventing unwanted compression.
adidas Dropset 4: for strength work with dynamic training
RunRepeat’s July 2026 guide names the Dropset 4 its best overall training shoe, while T3’s 2026 awards coverage highlights its stable base for strength work and flexibility and cushioning for more dynamic workouts. Those editorial assessments make it worth comparing if you want one pair for varied gym sessions; they do not establish that it is the best fit for your feet or lifting style.
Nike Metcon 10: for CrossFit-style variety
RunRepeat names the Metcon 10 its best shoe for CrossFit in its 2026 guide. Tom’s Guide’s 2025 coverage describes it as more versatile than earlier versions and shares the author’s personal workout experience. Treat those as reviewer assessments, and check the current model’s fit and feel in person if possible. Tom’s Guide’s Metcon 10 coverage is dated November 2025.

When a dedicated weightlifting shoe makes more sense
If your sessions center on barbell lifts, compare a dedicated weightlifting shoe rather than assuming a general cross-trainer is the right tool. RunRepeat lists the Nike Romaleos 4 in its best-for-weightlifting category, distinguishing it from shoes selected for broader training. Check the heel height and how the shoe supports your stance and movement; a specialized shoe is not automatically preferable for someone who also runs, jumps or does varied conditioning. RunRepeat’s 2026 guide separates training and weightlifting categories.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsHow to choose a stable, comfortable pair
Verywell Fit’s weightlifting-shoe guide discusses heel height or drop, closure, stability, support and materials as shopping considerations. Use those criteria alongside the actual movements in your program: a firm, stable sole and secure foothold matter for lifting, while a mixed workout may call for more flexibility. Verywell Fit’s guide, updated July 2, 2026, reports that its team tested 15 weightlifting shoes over one month, training at least two to three times per week for 65 total testing hours. That describes its review protocol, not a general measure of shoe performance.

- Check the fit: Leave room in the toe box, but make sure the heel stays held and the shoe does not feel loose during movement.
- Assess the sole: Look for a firm, stable feel for lifting rather than choosing by cushioning alone.
- Try the closure: Laces, straps or their combination should keep your foot secure without uncomfortable tightness.
- Consider your full session: Traction, lateral support, comfort and breathability matter more when lifting is mixed with conditioning or short runs.
- Compare heel height with your lifts: Heel height and drop can affect how a shoe feels during different movements, so choose based on your training style rather than a general claim that one height suits everyone.
Are the Prime Day discounts current?
No current discount is established by the headline’s “up to 30% off” claim. The closest matching Tom’s Guide article is dated June 27, 2025 and covers early Prime Day sales; its named shoes include the Puma Fuse 2.0, Nike Metcon 9 and Reebok Nano X5. That is historical coverage, not evidence of a live offer, current stock or available sizes. A later Tom’s Guide story from November 27, 2025 discusses different seasonal deals, including the Metcon 10 and Nano X5; those prices are historical too. Check the retailer’s live listing for the exact model, size and price before buying. The June 2025 Prime Day article and the November 2025 article document those past promotions.
