Some of WIRED’s October 6, 2026 Amazon device deals look worthwhile, but the advertised discounts need context: Amazon raised prices on several products in late August, making some markdowns less compelling than their percentages suggest. The prices below are WIRED’s reported prices for that date, not guaranteed current offers. Check each live listing for price, stock, model and configuration before buying.

For each deal, the useful question is whether the device fits your needs at its reported price—not simply how much the listing claims you save. WIRED’s full Prime Day guide includes its product assessments and price context.

How to judge these Prime Day prices

WIRED reported the prices below on October 6, 2026. They may change or disappear. A listed “was” price can also exaggerate the practical savings when the product’s price recently increased: WIRED says the Echo Dot’s listed price had risen to $80 after a $30 increase before the reported $40 deal. Its advice is useful across the roundup: compare the offer with the product’s earlier price and your intended use, not only the displayed discount.

The late-August increases WIRED reported included $30 for the Echo Dot (5th Gen), $40 for the Kindle Paperwhite, $25 for the Fire TV Stick 4K Max and $100 for the Eero Pro 7. WIRED says the Echo Studio (2nd Gen) and Ember Artline TV were not among products whose list prices it says rose then.

#1 Best Overall
Amazon Echo Dot (newest model) - Vibrant sounding speaker, Designed for Alexa+, Great for bedrooms, dining rooms and offices, Charcoal
  • Your favorite music and content – Play music, audiobooks, and podcasts from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and others or via Bluetooth throughout your home.
  • Alexa is happy to help – Ask Alexa for weather updates and to set hands-free timers, get answers to your questions and even hear jokes. Need a few extra minutes in the morning? Just tap your Echo Dot to snooze your alarm.
  • Keep your home comfortable – Control compatible smart home devices with your voice and routines triggered by built-in motion or indoor temperature sensors. Create routines to automatically turn on lights when you walk into a room, or start a fan if the inside temperature goes above your comfort zone.
  • Do more with device pairing – Fill your home with music using compatible Echo devices in different rooms, or create a home theatre system with Fire TV.
  • Say goodbye to drop-offs and buffering - With eero Built-in, Echo Dot doubles as a mesh wifi extender, adding up to 1,000 sq. ft. of wifi coverage to your existing eero network.

Echo speakers and displays

Device WIRED-reported price, Oct. 6, 2026 Best fit and buying context
Echo Spot (2024) $55, down from $110 WIRED’s favored Echo deal: a bedside alarm with a small display and no camera. WIRED says its original price was $80, so the $110 comparison price does not tell the whole price-history story.
Echo Studio (2nd Gen) $180, down from $220 $40 off the reported comparison price; WIRED describes room-filling sound and says its list price was not raised in August.
Echo Show 11 $150, down from $250 A kitchen-friendly smart display. WIRED says it sounds better than the newer Echo Show 8.
Echo Dot (5th Gen) $40, down from $80 The least expensive current Echo model in WIRED’s guide. The listed $80 price followed a $30 increase, so the displayed reduction may overstate savings against the earlier price.

Which Echo makes sense?

Choose the Spot if you want a compact bedside alarm and screen but do not want a camera. The Echo Show 11 is the more suitable option when a larger, kitchen-oriented display is the point. The Echo Studio is the sound-focused pick in this group. The Dot is the low-cost entry point, but its recent list-price increase is worth factoring into its value.

Kindle e-readers and note-taking tablets

Device WIRED-reported price, Oct. 6, 2026 What distinguishes it
Kindle Paperwhite (2024, 12th Gen) $150, down from $200 WIRED’s all-around Kindle choice. It highlights the e-paper screen, warm and cool front-light tones, and up to 12 weeks of battery life.
Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition $170, down from $250 The premium Paperwhite option in the guide. Consider whether its additional features justify the extra $20 over the standard Paperwhite at these reported prices.
Kindle Colorsoft $190, down from $290 A color e-reader; WIRED says color is the main reason to choose it. Its reported $100 reduction is against the new retail price.
Kindle Colorsoft Kids $210, down from $300 Aimed at young readers, with a year of Kids+ included according to WIRED; the color screen may be useful for children’s illustrated reading.
Kindle (2024, 11th Gen) $104, down from $150 The guide’s least expensive Kindle. It lacks Paperwhite features, and WIRED says its new list price rose by $40.
Kindle Scribe (3rd Gen) $380 (32 GB); $420 (64 GB) Combines reading with digital note-taking. WIRED calls out added AI features and a new homepage.

Pick by reading habit

For general reading, WIRED writer and reviewer Nena Farrell calls the Paperwhite “the best all-around Kindle.” Its warm and cool front-light tones matter if you want to adjust the screen’s lighting, while the Signature Edition is worth comparing against the standard model’s features before paying the additional $20 at the reported prices.

Rank #2
Amazon Echo Dot (newest model) - Vibrant sounding speaker, Designed for Alexa+, Great for bedrooms, dining rooms and offices, Glacier White

Choose Colorsoft when color content is important enough to drive the purchase; the standard Paperwhite is the more straightforward all-around recommendation. For a child, the Colorsoft Kids bundle adds a year of Kids+ according to WIRED. The basic Kindle is the budget choice if its simpler feature set suits you. The Scribe is for readers who also want to write notes digitally, rather than only read books.

Fire TV streaming device

Device WIRED-reported price, Oct. 6, 2026 Buying context
Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) $45, down from $85 Includes 16 GB storage and Wi-Fi 6E. WIRED says Prime is useful with the device but not required to access other streaming services.

This stick is an upgrade to consider for a compatible existing TV if you want its 4K Max model, storage and Wi-Fi 6E. A Prime membership is not a prerequisite for using other streaming services, according to WIRED. The reported price follows a $25 list-price increase in late August, so the $40 reduction from $85 is not necessarily the same as $40 saved against the earlier price.

Ember Artline TV

Configuration WIRED-reported price, Oct. 6, 2026 Buying context
55-inch Ember Artline TV $500 Art TV with built-in Alexa+; WIRED says its price was not raised in August.
65-inch Ember Artline TV $800 Larger Art TV configuration with built-in Alexa+; WIRED says its price was not raised in August.

These are two screen-size configurations rather than a discount comparison: WIRED reported their prices without a “down from” amount. Consider this model if the art-TV format and built-in Alexa+ match what you want; the cited guide does not establish a separate prior price for either size.

Eero mesh Wi-Fi systems

System and configuration WIRED-reported price, Oct. 6, 2026 Buying context
Eero Pro 6E, 2-pack $260 Older mesh option with 6 GHz, 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands. WIRED notes that some features require a subscription.
Eero Pro 6E, 3-pack $375 Same older Pro 6E system in a three-unit configuration; WIRED notes subscription features.
Eero Pro 7, 2-pack $400 Wi-Fi 7 tri-band mesh option WIRED recommends for busy homes; some features require a subscription.
Eero Pro 7, 3-pack $600 Three-unit configuration of the Wi-Fi 7 tri-band system; subscription features remain a cost consideration.

Choose the system and pack size

The Pro 6E is the older option; the Pro 7 brings Wi-Fi 7. Choose between two and three units based on the coverage your home needs, rather than buying more nodes solely because a pack is on sale. WIRED reported that the Eero Pro 7’s price rose by $100 in late August, so its reported offer should be weighed against that context. For either generation, include any subscription cost if you want features that require one.
