To integrate Telegram’s WebApp API with Vue 3, load Telegram’s script before your app, keep theme and viewport values in sync with Telegram, and send raw launch data to your server for verification before trusting user identity. The API works without a Vue wrapper; a wrapper is optional.
Load Telegram’s WebApp API before Vue starts
Telegram exposes its browser API as window.Telegram.WebApp. Its documentation directs developers to put the WebApp script in the document head before other scripts. Telegram currently documents this script URL; the version query value can change, so check the official Web Apps documentation when updating your integration.

<script src="https://telegram.org/js/telegram-web-app.js?64"></script>
<!-- Load your application scripts after Telegram's script. -->
</head>
The API is independent of Vue. You can access it directly or put a small adapter around it so components do not repeatedly inspect the global object. A guard is useful during ordinary browser development, where the Telegram script may not be present.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems// telegram.ts
export function getTelegramWebApp() {
if (typeof window === 'undefined') return undefined;
return window.Telegram?.WebApp;
}
For TypeScript, add or use an appropriate declaration for the Telegram global if your project’s types do not already provide one. Keep the adapter narrow: it should expose the platform capabilities your app actually uses, rather than making the rest of the Vue code depend on undocumented assumptions.
#1 Best Overall
Choose direct access or a Vue wrapper
Direct access avoids adding a dependency and follows Telegram’s canonical API. A Vue wrapper can offer composables and reactive values; for example, Vue-TG documents useTheme() and useViewport(). That convenience does not replace the official API as the behavior reference. Before adopting any wrapper, check its current maintenance, Telegram-version coverage, types, and whether its abstraction fits your app; available documentation alone does not establish that one package is the best choice. See Vue-TG documentation.
Keep the interface synchronized with Telegram’s theme
Telegram provides theme colors through themeParams and can notify the Mini App when the user’s Telegram theme changes. Do not take a one-time snapshot at startup if the interface should continue to match Telegram. The official API documents CSS theme variables, including --tg-theme-bg-color and --tg-theme-text-color; use these directly where suitable, or propagate theme values into your own reactive state and CSS variables.
/* Use Telegram's theme values in your stylesheet. */
.app-shell {
background: var(--tg-theme-bg-color);
color: var(--tg-theme-text-color);
}
If components need theme values in JavaScript, subscribe to Telegram’s theme-change event and update Vue state when it fires. Remove event listeners when the component or adapter is disposed. With a wrapper, use its documented reactive theme values rather than assuming that a plain value will update by itself. Theme fields can vary, so provide sensible fallbacks for any color your design requires but Telegram does not supply.

Use stable viewport height for settled layout
Telegram exposes both a changing viewportHeight and a settled viewportStableHeight. The first changes while the Mini App view moves, but its refresh rate is not suitable for smoothly following the lower edge. Telegram explicitly cautions: “Please note that the refresh rate of this value is not sufficient to smoothly follow the lower border of the window. It should not be used to pin interface elements to the bottom of the visible area. It’s more appropriate to use the value of the viewportStableHeight field for this purpose.”
For a layout that should fit the settled visible area, use Telegram’s --tg-viewport-stable-height variable and let the content region scroll internally. Do not treat the changing height as a frame-by-frame animation signal.
.mini-app-layout {
height: var(--tg-viewport-stable-height, 100vh);
display: flex;
flex-direction: column;
overflow: hidden;
}
.mini-app-content {
min-height: 0;
overflow-y: auto;
}
If JavaScript needs to know when the view has settled, observe viewportChanged and inspect its isStateStable property. Use the stable state for layout decisions that depend on the completed gesture or animation; use changing viewport values only when the behavior genuinely needs to respond during a transition. See the Web Apps API reference.
Account for safe areas and Telegram controls
A viewport-sized layout can still overlap Telegram’s interface or the device’s system UI. Telegram’s design guidance calls out safe-area and content-safe-area insets, particularly in fullscreen mode. Use the corresponding inset values or CSS support in your layout so headers, footers, and interactive controls remain clear of those regions. Test in the Telegram clients and presentation modes your app supports; a browser preview alone does not reproduce every Telegram viewport state. See Telegram’s Mini App design guidelines.

initDataUnsafe is convenient for reading launch fields in the client, but it is not proof of identity. Telegram warns: “Data from this field should not be trusted. You should only use data from initData on your bot’s server and only after it has been validated.” Read the raw Telegram.WebApp.initData string and send it to your backend over HTTPS; do not authorize protected actions from client-side user or chat fields.
Best Value
- Read the raw value: obtain
Telegram.WebApp.initDatain the Mini App. Treat it as untrusted input while it is in the browser. - Send it to your server: POST the raw string to an application endpoint over HTTPS. Do not include the bot token in Vue code, a public configuration file, or a client bundle.
- Verify Telegram’s signature on the server: parse the signed fields and validate them using Telegram’s documented HMAC-SHA256 procedure and the bot token, following the validation guide.
- Check freshness: apply a maximum age to
auth_dateaccording to your security needs. One hour is an illustrative expiry used in an authorization example, not a universal Telegram requirement. - Only then establish application authentication: use verified fields to create or continue your own server-side session or authorization state. Reject invalid signatures and data outside your freshness policy.
Keep verification and the bot token on the server. The backend language and the right expiry window depend on your architecture and risk; Telegram’s validation procedure does not prescribe one universal application session policy.
Quick Recap
Checks to run before release
- Open the app in an ordinary browser preview and confirm it remains usable when the Telegram global is unavailable.
- Launch it in Telegram and confirm the API is present before Vue code tries to use it.
- Switch Telegram themes while the app is open and verify the interface follows the update.
- Exercise partial-height and fullscreen presentation, including completed viewport changes, and check that content scrolls without covering Telegram controls or device UI.
- Send valid, altered, and expired launch data to the backend; confirm only data with a valid signature and acceptable
auth_datecan establish authenticated application state.
