On paper, TECNO specifies a 144Hz display and 45W charging; Xiaomi’s India page lists an 8000mAh battery and IP65 rating. Which makes more sense depends on your priorities, region and the exact versions on sale.
How the headline specifications compare
The figures below come from manufacturer pages for the TECNO and Xiaomi phones. Xiaomi details are identified by region because its UK and India pages do not establish one universal configuration.

Display: refresh rate versus screen size
The Xiaomi UK specification gives the REDMI Note 17 5G a slightly larger screen: 6.99 inches versus TECNO’s 6.78 inches. TECNO lists the higher refresh rate, 144Hz versus Xiaomi’s up-to-120Hz, while the listed resolution is higher on the TECNO. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of brightness, color accuracy or viewing quality.
Processor and performance: what the listed data establishes
TECNO names a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate processor. The cited Xiaomi product information does not state the REDMI Note 17 5G’s processor, so this material cannot support a direct chipset or graphics-performance comparison. No independent benchmark or comparative performance test is available in the cited sources; processor naming alone does not establish which phone performs better in everyday use or games.

Cameras: stabilization and lens details
TECNO specifies a 50MP rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Xiaomi India describes a 50MP dual camera but does not provide the same level of detail in the cited product information. The specifications do not establish comparative photo or video quality, so the camera hardware alone is not a reliable basis for declaring a winner.
Battery, protection and software
Xiaomi India lists an 8000mAh battery, compared with TECNO’s stated 6500mAh capacity. TECNO specifies 45W charging; the cited Xiaomi India information does not state charging wattage. Capacity figures do not establish real-world battery life, which depends on factors such as usage and network conditions.

These Xiaomi details are from its India page and should not be assumed to apply identically to every regional variant.
India price difference: indicative, not a live checkout comparison
A 91mobiles comparison page reports India prices of ₹49,999 for the TECNO and ₹27,999 for the Xiaomi—a ₹22,000 difference calculated from those two figures. These are third-party reported prices, not verified current manufacturer prices or a checked comparison of identical memory and storage configurations. The publication country is not specified, so buyers elsewhere should check local prices, taxes, availability and exact model variants before deciding.

Regional versions and network compatibility
The display figures above for Xiaomi come from its UK specifications page, while battery, IP rating and update details come from its India page. Do not assume that combining those details describes a single SKU sold in every country. Xiaomi’s UK specifications page cautions that network bands and connectivity vary by region and operator. Before buying either phone, confirm the precise regional model and its supported bands against your carrier’s requirements.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which phone fits your priorities?
- Consider the TECNO on paper if a stated 144Hz refresh rate, higher listed display resolution, OIS plus an ultra-wide rear camera, or 45W charging are priorities for you.
- Consider the Xiaomi on paper if the larger listed battery, IP65 rating or India-listed software-update period matters more. Its UK page also specifies a larger display, while listing a lower refresh rate than TECNO.
- Compare local listings before choosing if price is decisive: the reported ₹22,000 gap applies only to the two India figures on the third-party comparison page, not necessarily to today’s offers or matching configurations.
Neither manufacturer specification page establishes a universal winner. The available information supports a feature-by-feature choice, not a conclusion about real-world endurance, image quality, durability or overall speed.
